About this listen

Doug and Judy have both had a secret power all their life. Judy can see every possible future, branching out from each moment like infinite trees. Doug can also see the future, but for him, it's a single, locked-in, inexorable sequence of foreordained events. They can't both be right, but over and over again, they are. Obviously these are the last two people in the world who should date. So, naturally, they do. A finalist for both the Nebula Award and the Hugo Award.

The author nicely presents a plausible story through the two characters of her choice consistently to the end

Not thrilling but a good story

This book was full of possibilities but unfortunately did not pursue them. This book was entertaining but it did not pursue what I feel could’ve been a great book. It was a Good way to kill a few minutes but left me wanting more

This is a very short story that won the Hugo award for best novelette in 2012, it took me about 45 minutes to listen to on the drive in to work.
The story is about a relationship between a woman who can see all of her possible futures and a man who can see his own future as a predestined series of events. The writing is good, the voices of the characters are very believable but overall I think I enjoyed the concept of the story more than I enjoyed how it played out. One of the central elements, was that the woman couldn't/wouldn't accept that the man's future was fixed and he wouldn't/couldn't accept that he could take any action to change how things were going to go, this bugs me because a couple of reasonably smart people should be able to test this fairly simply and just move on with their lives, but instead they feel inexorably drawn into the plot and continue to argue the point and when the question is ultimately answered it didn't feel particularly satisfying to me.

This is a great short story. I hope the author develops it into a full novel.

Short but epic

It was quite a good story: short and to the point, a quick but overall enjoyable read.

Who says theoretical physics and romantic dramas don't mix? Fun quick little multi variant story.
