About this listen

On Lansdown Hill, near Bath, England, a battle between Roundheads and Cavaliers that took place over 350 years ago is annually reenacted. Two of the reenactors discover a skeleton that is female, headless, and only about twenty years old. One of them, a professor who played a Cavalier, is later found murdered. In the course of his investigation, Peter Diamond butts heads with the group of vigilantes who call themselves the Lansdown Society, discovering in the process that his boss Georgina is a member. She resolves to sideline Diamond, but matters don't pan out in accordance with her plans.©2009 Peter Lovesey. All rights reserved. This story pulls the reader in from the beginning. The characters are great and so are the twists in the stories. I love each of the Diamond stories!!!!

Much of this edition of the Diamond series depends on one’s appreciation for Peter Diamond and his prowess as an inspector.
If you love the series, you’ll enjoy this one.

Better than Sherlock holmes. Diamond is a very complex character with many sides. it's great to see how he develops. love how the Paloma relationship is progressing.

Glad I came across this remarkable novel. History, horses and costume design mix with full characters and settings beautifully. I look forward to more of this great series.

One of the Best.

What can I say that I haven’t said before: amazingly well written, well thought out plot that keeps you guessing til the end, and a main character who is nothing like the folks in the book thinks he is. I almost didn’t continue this series when one of the main characters I identified with and liked was killed off. Now I grudgingly admit to being glad I did.

Love this series

The story itself was slow and not that interesting until maybe the end. I love the characters. The narrator does a good job with the leading character, but not so well with women voices, but it was acceptable. All in all I enjoyed it, but I will read what the plot is for my next novel to decide if I’m going to listen to it or not.

A little slow and boring but I love the characters

I found this one to be very boring and hard to follow. So many different characters at play. I couldn’t remember everyone’s name and role. It was entertaining though nonetheless and…

<<<<Spoiler alert>>>>

***Thank goodness no one died and no one’s feelings were turned to ground beef ***

This one bored me
