About this listen

Marcus Snackenberg is a born ladykiller.

When Minnie Cooper moves back to her dad's hometown as a child, with her two brothers and Star Wars action figures in tow, they become immediate friends.

By junior high, Minnie, although unaware, is in love with him. Snack is completely in touch with his feelings for her.

Sometimes the villain in the story isn't a person. Sometimes it's time. And space. And fear. Fear of losing the best friend you've ever had.

Snack.

An overnight romance 26 years in the making.

Second chance works out

Fantastic listen. I enjoyed the characters and the story was well written. I can't wait to listen to another Emma Burton story.

Great story, not thrilled with narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Overall I would recommend this to anyone.

Did Angie Hickman do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

The narrator did a good job with the different characters. I did have an issue with her voice, and her portrayal of the heroine. "Minni". The voice is very whiny.

Any additional comments?

I think overall this would be a good book for anyone. Wonderful storyline, plot, and characters.

Sweet Second Chance to Love

This was my first Emma Burton's book. This is a good second chance to love. Minnie and Snack's story is filled with twists and turns. The back and forth, past to present, is well done, and easy to follow. I love the ending. Angie Hickman did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

✫✫ 3.5 Stars ✫✫

Cute love story with a bit of drama, bad timing and a lot of an again off again! I liked that this story tells us the past and present for these two characters. I love when a couple had a long history and I love a friends to lovers story but I gotta say something about the timing didn't work for me. I get that they were always meant to be together but I think it would have worked better if he had time to mourn before jumping in feet first. That for me made it feel like a rebound or something to the effect that he wasn't dealing with his reality. That is the only thing that really hurt this love story for me.

The narration was good, this is my first Angie Hickman and i enjoyed her work.

Great narration, ok story

While the narration was great, too many things in the story rubbed me the wrong way. I was not a fan of the hero or the heroine. I think even though they had a past, they moved way to quickly in my eyes in the present. Snack was a jerk to me. He got in his own way and prevented him and Minnie from being a couple.

On a good note, I really loved the narration. This was my first book from this narrator and I believe she did a great job. Look forward to listening to more books from her.

Worth the Effort

Loved it! This story grabbed my attention from the opening sentence (delivered beautifully by Angie Hickman's narration) and did not let me go until the very end. Some of the negative reviews were very well explained but in all honesty, I could not agree with them. These characters were engaging, likable and compelling. They each did what they did for understandable reasons that I found quite plausible. I will look for more of Emme Burton's work and hope to savor every syllable. I was provided a free copy of this work in exchange for this review, but would gladly used an Audible credit for the opportunity to listen to this work.

So many missed opportunities

This book really encompasses the feel of star crossed lovers missing their chance to be happy until the very end.

We follow the story of Snack and Mini as they try to find each other, while getting passages of their past and seeing how their relationship formed and ultimately crashed, before they reunite for good. The story moves along at a good pace and I enjoyed the narrator's voice. There could possibly be more play on male characters, but overall it was good.

The most heartbreaking scene for me was when Wookie got injured. I'm a huge animal lover and usually avoid anything of this nature, but that broke my heart.

I want a Snack!

This was such a good book. I was a little unsure at first because the narrator's voice is a bit 'little girl-ish' but it really ended up working great. I totally loved the story also and I wish I had read this book even earlier. I love the name, the book/audible cover. It all works so well together! Snack was Mini's (both nick names) one and only from first meeting, but things just never worked out for them to be together when they finally tried a couple of times throughout the years. Then years later, after tragedy strikes, they come back together and what a whirlwind that was. This story goes back and forth between the past and present to explain the entire story, from the time they first met at 6 yrs old until the present. What I loved about this also was that Mini wasn't a girly girl, she had a sailor's mouth. So you have a narrator that sounds so sweet and cute and Mini was dirtier than a lot of alpha men. Snack was an alpha man, but could cry and show his feelings as well. I love that in a man, when they can express their feelings. I just loved this story and will definitely have to find some more books by Emme Burton to read.
