About this listen

In a small village snuggled in the snow-shrouded French Alps, the son of a long-dead, high-ranking Nazi who had terrorized the area during the war, Adolph Streicher, vanishes on the ice-slick slopes. Robert Holmes, a vacationing American journalist and mountain climber, tries to unravel the son’s disappearance. Instead, he becomes ensnared in a desperate and deadly plot, sparked by the arrival of one man - Walter Streicher, twin brother of the notorious Nazi. Or is he Adolph? The mystery soon explodes into bloodshed and a desperate chase across the blizzard-swept Alpine peaks.

I have never heard the word crevasse so often in all the days of my life put into one story. Crazy!

Narrator sounded like he was a newscaster with little emotion. Story was interesting , tho.

This was a compelling read (listen). Faust is an expert in creating complex characters interacting in a believable, sometimes unexpected fashion. The reader had a rich baritone and was excellent at providing convincing French, German, and Italian accents in this high-alpine setting.

A well-crafted, Trevanian-style thriller

Not much character development but interesting enough story to keep my attention. Historical facts about Nazis was interesting in a superficial way. That’s how I would describe the book- superficial.

Some good historical references
