About this listen

Spencer Morgan and Dieter Hedrick are on opposite sides of the war and fighting for the same thing.

At the age of 15, Dieter's blind devotion gets him promoted from Hitler Youth into the German army. Dieter's determined to prove his allegiance and bravery all costs.

Spence, just 16, drops out of his Utah high school to begin training as a paratrooper. He's seen how boys who weren't much in high school can come home heroes, and Spence wants to prove to his friends and family that he really can be something.

Their worst fear was that the war would end too soon - that they wouldn't get the chance to prove themselves. But when they finally see the action they were hoping for, it's like nothing they could have ever imagined.

God, this is just such a perfect book.

I listened to the book all the way through in one sitting. I couldn't bring myself to stop.

Simply beautiful

This story inspires me not because of the men who fought but the ones that didn’t the ones who look past the chaos that consumed everyone else and this shows that the fight against evil goes two ways and evil is just a word and life isn’t good or bad but equilibrium.

Masterful

I loved this book when I first read it in high school, and the narrator did a fair job bringing it to life without overdoing it. One of my favorite war novels growing up.

It’s a banger

I read this book in 7th grade back in 2010, and it’s still as good 10 years later. If you want something that hits in the feels. This is the book for you! And Epstein didn’t kill himself

Great story

I really enjoyed this book! It really was a great story ! I liked the conflicts of the boys had to face and seeing both sides of the war. Only wished it had a different outcome.

WW2 Coming of Age Drama

Loved seeing differing points of view between Germany and US in WW2. Like you're there.

Poor Narration

The story was well written but the reader paused in all the wrong places, breaking up sentences. That was disappointing.
