Pleasantly surprised

I have read most of Lisa Kleypas’ books and love almost all of them (a few exceptions). I wanted to start this series but resisted due to the negative reviews on the narration. I ended up picking it up when it was on sale so decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did! The narrator is not terrible! I didn’t mind her at all.

That being said…it is not my favorite but not at the bottom of my Kleypas books list either. Great premise but dragged a bit. I didn’t have any trouble putting it down to get things done, unlike most of her books when I stay up all night just to finish. I have the next two books ready to listen to but I also see they are about to be re-recoded by Rosalyn Landor. Not sure if I want to hold off of not yet.

In any case - don’t let the negative reviews of the narrator hold you back from giving this one a try.

A bit predictable

Author certainly tied up the outstanding bullet point for the storyline. No surprises there. No cliff hanger…no apparent sequel part 2. Yawn…

No problems with the narrator

After reading many reviews about the narration of this book, I was hesitant. But I am glad I took the chance. I was very happy with the narration. I thought she did a wonderful job. She had just the right innocent sounding voice to read for Victoria.

I may have had a different view had I listened to the other books in this series first, because I hate it when they change narrators. But since this was the first book I listened to, it didn’t bother me a bit.

Also, I loved the story. I had read this book many years ago, but I had forgotten all the details. So it was like experiencing this book for the first time all over again.

Narrator' accent is so fake she sounds like a kid.

The narrator's accent is so fake she sounds like a kid. The story is too slow and unbelievable.

the storyline contains a bit of everything!!!

the storyline contains a bit of everything... from a mystery, revenge, mistaken identity & of course a little romance. I enjoyed the characters they seemed to come to life . the storyline also held surprises & secrets. I recommend this audiobook.

Another good Kleypass story

Well, it’s Lisa Kleypass so it’s bound to be good!

I was going along thinking this was an okay story but it kept getting better.

The narrator was okay. Not my favorite but I didn’t find her distracting from the story.

Great Story almost ruined by performance

The story line was one of LK's best. I usually skip through tedious dialogue, but not so with this book. Unfortunately I did not like the narrator. The female voice was too high-pitched and whiny and her male voice was just a bit lower than her female voice. If the book had been narrated by Rosalyn Landor, I would have given it 5 stars for all categories.

Good Plot and Mystery

I was not a huge fan of the hero in this one. In fact I really didn't like him until the end. I loved the story though and it keeps you guessing at the outcome.
It was steamy...but not as much as the 2nd and 3rd in the trilogy.

The Trilogy is worth it. The narration is not great - but deal with it - Susan D is back for the last 2 books.

Worth it!
