Re: the different narrator

This book is provided by Recorded Books not Highbridge Audio. I suspect that's why the narrator is different. Too bad - Elizabeth Sastre had it down pat!

Why did they switch to a new narrator?

I haven't really spent much time with this new Jasper Fforde novel, but I am already disappointed in the new narrator.
Her voice is a bit too "fussy" for the calm Thursday Next.
Whatever were the audio people thinking?

Suprizingly funny

At the beginning of the story I did not think I would like it. Within minutes I was hooked. Definetly worth it.

Another fun addition to the series

Another fun installment in the Thursday Next Series. Thursday has decided it’s time to come back to the real world, she has been living in the book world for 2 years, since her husband Landen was eradicated, but as you know trouble follows our Thursday and as much as she wants Landen back there are some bad people out there that want her eradicated in every sense of the word.

I so enjoy these books it’s been too long since I picked one up and it was the best way to end my year in reading! Hamlet was hilarious in his pining for but hating Ophelia and what he thinks of all the movies and books on his “life” and the Shakespeare’s , yes many more than one since he was cloned but none of them seem to have the originals talent.

Thursday gets Landen back and then loses him again, it is all a big game played by Goliath and new baddy Kaine who may or may not be a fictional character, who seems to have it out for the Danish, and who does Thursday have living her who else but Danish Prince Hamlet.

There is, as usual many great characters in this book but most of them aren’t literary characters and I missed them, and Miss Havisham!

Emily Gray as always does a wonderful job at the narration, I love all her different voices she is very, very talented!

I read the last book in 2012 and I think it is time I finished this series, so I will be listening to the rest of these this year.

Unfortunate narrator

Mentally picturing Thursday while Emily G reads her lines is incongruous. Elizabeth Sastre is the best voice actress ever. But even the best Imaginotransference AI can’t replicate Thursday starting with Emily’s voice.
To be fair, Emily is an excellent reader but projects frigidity as a voice actress.

Not bad narration

Oh, I know Ms. Sastre has her fans, and she did a creditable job on the first books. But she mispronounced Acheron and Haworth, which pretty much ruined the first book for me. Many of the comments people are posting about the narrator of this book are a bit unfair, I think.

can't wait until Next, Thursday Next

so I started listening in the middle of the series with one of our thursdays is missing. I loved that book. bookworld was so fun. I read the reviews and couldn't understand why people were disappointed. Now I know because we love the real Thursday so much. I couldn't wait to see how it was going to all turn out with landon and friday and Hamlet. I am glad I started where I did because so far no book in the series disappoints. I have all the books in my library now and can't wait to listen to the next one. I also downloaded the big over easy a Nursery Crime (sounds hard boiled) I can't wait to hear that. If you love books which I am sure you do the Thurday Next series is sure to be enjoyable.

As good as always

I like this last installment in the Thursday Next series as much as all the others. It is true that it takes a bit getting used to a new voice especially if come directly from a prior book, but Emily Gray does as good of a job as Elizabeth Sastre. Can't wait for "First Among Sequels"
