Story
Imagine finding a glimmer of good news in a diagnosis of Alzheimer's. And imagine how that would change the outlook of the five million Americans who suffer from Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, not to mention their families, loved ones, and caretakers. A neurologist who's been specializing in dementia and memory loss for more than 20 years, Dr. Gayatri Devi rewrites the story of Alzheimer's by defining it as a spectrum disorder - like autism, Alzheimer's is a disease that affects different people differently.

Story
San Francisco's Laguna Honda Hospital is the last almshouse in the country, a descendant of the Hôtel-Dieu (God's hotel) that cared for the sick in the Middle Ages. Ballet dancers and rock musicians, professors and thieves - "anyone who had fallen, or, often, leapt, onto hard times" and needed extended medical care - ended up here. So did Victoria Sweet, who came for two months and stayed for 20 years. Laguna Honda, lower-tech but human-paced, gave Sweet the opportunity to practice a kind of attentive medicine that has almost vanished.

Story
Each of us will know physical pain in our lives, but none of us knows when it will come or how long it will stay. Today as much as 10 percent of the population of the United States suffers from chronic pain. It is more widespread, misdiagnosed, and undertreated than any major disease. While recent research has shown that pain produces pathological changes to the brain and spinal cord, many doctors and patients still labor under misguided cultural notions and outdated scientific dogmas.

Clear and concise
Would you consider the audio edition of Spanish for the Busy Medical Professional, Level 2 to be better than the print version?
I think language learning is best with audio
What did you like best about this story?
It’s not a story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I cannot absorb that much information in one sitting. I took about two weeks to get through the course.
Any additional comments?
I’m amazed just how much I remember a month later.

Interesting Approach
This is a useful book for people in the medical profession. The author makes you think of the answers. It also talks about cognates and verbs in past and future. You need to get engaged and repeat and answer the questions, otherwise it will seem too slow.
The narration was very clear and slow enough to understand.
I received this audio-book free for an honest review by the author, narrator, or publisher. Thank you!!!

Even better than Level 1
I have been waiting for this title for a while and the wait was worthwhile.
This course is even better than the first one for the following reasons:
1) Answers are repeated twice, giving me a chance to correct my mistakes.
2) There is more substance in this course.
I took the first course a while ago and it gave me the confidence to start communicating with patients and family members in Spanish. However, I noticed quickly that my vocabulary was still limited. I was able to construct sentences, but unable to have full conversations.
The second course filled in a a lot of gaps for me. I am more comfortable now speaking in the past, present and future tenses.
I love Hadassah Davids' narration. it's clear and pleasant and easy to listen to. However, for me the course only works if I participate. This is not a course you put on at bedtime and fall asleep to...
Thank you, well done!
