About this listen

This program is read by the author.

"Adrian Tchaikovsky again proves himself a double threat...the author-narrator brings to life a world that is wasting away." —AudioFile on Service Model

Spiderlight is an exhilarating fantasy quest from Adrian Tchaikovsky, the author of Guns at Dawn and the Shadows of the Apt series.

The path to victory will only be seen through a spider's eyes...

The Church of Armes of the Light has battled the forces of Darkness for as long as anyone can remember. The great prophecy has foretold that a band of misfits, led by a high priestess will defeat the Dark Lord Darvezian, armed with their wits, the blessing of the Light and an artifact stolen from the merciless Spider Queen.

Their journey will be long, hard and fraught with danger. Allies will become enemies; enemies will become allies. And the Dark Lord will be waiting, always waiting…

The story set my expectations and then far surpassed them.

Spiderlight starts fast, but the writing and performance kept my full attention. It's a fascinating story. the last two chapters make me want to listen to the story again and I'm definitely picking up a physical copy of the book!

Tchaikovsky makes you like spiders.

This is just a fun, well written fantasy romp. Narration is solid and there is some comedy and emotion here. Worth a credit for sure!

Funny! Wish it was longer.

I love the depth of so many of AT novels/series. While I loved this one I just wish it was longer! Perhaps I can hope for a sequel.

RPG-style fantasy with a fun twist

Tchaikovsky is, once again, reliably creative with a weave of introspection about the nature of humanity or reality.

Great characters and meta narrative.

Amazing story, good meditation on the nature of change. Dinged one star because there’s a couple times when he could have just gotten to the point a little faster, but that probably deserves less then one star off.

Another Wonderful Novel by A.T.

This may be my favorite Tchaikovsky book so far. I love his fantasy and it was wonderful that he narrated this one himself. He’s not only a wonderful writer but also narrator. 5/5 from me, very well done Adrian.

First listen to this author went well

The story was pretty good. There were points where you felt like yelling at the main human characters because they just didn't get what the obvious thing to do was. however, I liked the examination of the undefined other that was the humans found hard to emphathize with and understand. I also liked the examination of religion even though it was cursory. Not a deep story but fun and had a few moral lessons. I also liked that the author read the book and did a good job. This my first listen from this author, and I'd definitely listen to more from him.

A new perspective

Loved it! Great concept and great delivery. I had some doubts about the author doing the reading (I had some bad experiences before with such cases) but was pleasantly surprised.

Funny and great story

I live everything Adrian writes because of the complexity but also possibility of the story. This story has all that plus some great humor as well. highly recommend!

Serviceable!

I enjoy Tchaikovsky's writing style and this is that. I kept expecting an interesting plot twist or some payoff at the end but it all felt very.. standard. The Villain mentions previous heroes and I almost feel like the story would've been far better if we followed the perspective of one of the surviving heroes after the confrontation he mentions.
