About this listen

The international best seller that brings a dark and sensual look at the tale of Rumpelstiltskin.

A necklace, a ring, a child.... There is always a price one is willing to pay.

Laila sees her impending death in the mountains of straw waiting to be spun into gold. Faced with the impossible, she makes the impossible decision to survive, no matter what the cost.

A shadowy stranger sees an opportunity for vengeance.

Born to a nightmarish destiny that crushed and embittered his faith in humanity, he devotes himself to dealing in dark desires and desperate souls, and Laila's is ripe for the trade.

When the stranger asks his price, Laila is bound by blood and magic to pay.

His own heart was never supposed to be part of the deal, but when honor drives Laila to break their bargain, he ends up tangled in his own web of deceit and destruction in a desperate attempt to save her life. In the black of night, there are no fairy tales, only choices.

One choice makes a queen. One choice consumes a soul. It's a roll of the dice in a game where love is everyone's undoing.

Spin is a twisted, sexy retelling of one of Grimm's classic tales and the first book in the Spindlewind trilogy.

Praise for Spin:

Great Story, Great Story Telling

The book is very well written. I don't often write reviews that are more than merely "its good" or something similar. However, for this I will write a small review. Largely because I would like to read more from this author, hear more from the narrator and I would be doing you a disservice by not recommending it.

Spin it entrancing. Almost from the very beginning I was sucked into the book unwell to turn it off. Kevin Green captured this so well that I find it hard to read it instead of listen. in fact while I read it I find myself narrating in his fashion.

The book itself is very well done. It doesn't stall. It is dark at times (not to dark mind you) sensual, funny and enthralling. I could not put the book down. I have Twist and will be starting it tonight.

A good reimagine if Rumpelstiltskin.

The story was very good. Reminds me of the Rumplestiltskin that you see in the tv show Once Upon A Time. The narrator was pretty good. The female voices could have been a little better but enjoyable over all. Definitely would like to listen to the next book.

Good narration and interesting spin on Rumpelstiltskin!

Spin was a dark spin on Rumpelstiltskin and one of his many stories. Although Rumpelstiltskin is already a dark story, the author plays on this, making an interesting new tale for the modern age. Would like to read the second in this series! The narration of Spin by Kevin Green was just lovely. He made the story sound like a fantasy come true, like a live-action Disney movie bringing about dark magic. I would definitely listen to his narration again.

Spin

What a great start to a trilogy! It was nice to read how rumpelstiltskin came to be and what fueled his anger. The twists and turns in this book kept you very invested to keep listening and see what will happen next. I can’t wait to see what will happen next in this trilogy.

Didn't meet my expectations

Although the story didn't totally suck, I think I just expected more from it. Narration was ok but I was having trouble with voice inflections, there were slight changes but not enough change from man to woman.

A Dark Retelling

Laila is the miller's daughter, working herself to the bone every day and cursing her boasting father for the trouble it brings them. When her father claims that Laila can spin straw into gold, she's brought in front of the king to perform the impossible task. If she can't, she'll lose her life. And then a strange man appears in her dungeon, and offers her a choice.

Rumpelstiltskin is a dark fairy tale, and this retelling keeps that darkness and adds depth. This story fleshes out Rumple's background and motivations. I liked that Laila was a strong woman with fierce emotions, and not a damsel in distress. This is the first in a trilogy, it doesn't end on a cliffhanger and wraps up this part of the story neatly.

The narration was done well, the story is told alternately from Rumple and Laila's point of view, and the narrator changed his tone for each character. It made it easy to tell who was speaking. It was a good immersive performance. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

A good start

Knowing the story, it's hard to imagine what more can be done with the story. However a bit of a different spin (no pun intended) is delivered with this new tale.
As I often listen to audio books while doing other things, I did on occasion lose track of where I was in the story when my attention was distracted briefly.
The narration was very good and was easy to listen to. It would be a very good reason for me to continue listening to the remainder of the series.

sorry

Unable to review this story. Unfortunately this session was as the name suggested and Spun through all the chapters in under 5 mins. Assume it's an error on the book, but no joy for me. If I ever do get it to play on normal speed I will rereview
