About this listen
Spite Island
There's an island up in Gold Country at the northern end of Snapdragon Lake. It's named Manchester for the family that owns it, but the locals call it Spite Island. There's a single lonely mansion on that island and a group of authors have been invited to write about its ghosts and its mysteries. But the real mystery is, who will survive this luxurious but deadly retreat?
A Cursed Island
Cody Manchester, grandson of Spite House mistress, Agnes Manchester, has avoided Spite Island since he was a boy. Something horrible happened back then that he can’t recall -- but now he’s returned, determined to exorcise his childhood fears once and for all. With the help of writer Paige Allen, he’s discovering things about his family that will change him forever.
Meanwhile, entranced by the nightly storytelling, the other guests are eager to encounter the ghosts that walk the halls of Spite House -- at least until the manifestations begin. Sometimes getting what you wish for can be deadly.
Hurrying to explore the island before they’re trapped inside the shadow-filled mansion by the coming storm, they soon learn that what lurks outside is even hungrier than what waits for them within the walls of Spite House.

Story
Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is perhaps the most famous ghost story of all. For nearly 200 years, this tale has singlehandedly extended the haunting season from autumn through winter, and ghost lovers everywhere are happy about that. Traditionally, A Christmas Carol is told and retold each year in every form from plays to movies and TV shows. But, originally, the tale was read aloud as folks sat by the hearth, drinking mulled cider or hot cocoa as they warmed their hands at the fireplace. Many of us first heard the tale as children.

Its violent, sordid past is what draws best-selling author David Masters to the infamous Victorian mansion called Baudey House. Its shrouded history of madness and murder is just the inspiration he needs to write his ultimate masterpiece of horror. But what waits for David and his 16-year-old daughter, Amber, at Baudey House, is more terrifying than any legend.

At her newest project, a run-down Pacific Heights mansion, Mel is visited by the ghost of a colleague who recently met a bad end with power tools. Story
We're the D'Artigo sisters: Half-human, half-Faerie, we are savvy - and sexy - operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But our mixed-blood heritage short-circuits our talents at all the wrong times. My sister Delilah shapeshifts into a tabby cat whenever she's stressed. Menolly's a vampire who is still trying to get the hang of being undead. And me? I'm Camille - a wicked-good witch. Except my magic is as unpredictable as the weather, which my enemies are about to find out the hard way.

Story
In a boarded-up house on a dead-end street at the edge of the wild Washington woods lives a family of three. A teenage girl who isn’t allowed outside, not after last time. A man who drinks alone in front of his TV, trying to ignore the gaps in his memory. And a house cat who loves napping and reading the Bible. An unspeakable secret binds them together, but when a new neighbor moves in next door, what is buried out among the birch trees may come back to haunt them all.

Another fantastic story in Spite House 👏
It just keeps getting more intriguing with each story. I was sad when this unexpectedly left me with a cliffhanger. Now I can't wait to find out what happens next. The narration, as always, kept me fascinated with each chapter. BRAVO 👏
If you're a fan of ghosts, mystery, suspense, and great storytelling, don't pass up Spite Island! Also, recommend this series to all fans of horror.

2nd Book in a Horror/ Mystery Story Series
This 2nd book gets deeper into the people and history of Spite House and the people who reside there. The Island history goes back to the indigenous people who lived in the area and avoided the island because of the melevenous sports there. Narrator does a really good job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline.
