Publisher's summary

Disturbing. Original. Terrifying. The 'master of horror' is back with the chilling tale of what lurks in the walls of an abandoned hospital.

In this abandoned hospital, pain lives on... and it wants revenge.

St Philomena's military hospital has been abandoned for over three years. Now Lilian Chesterfield, who works for one of the most successful building companies in England, is in charge of developing it into a luxury housing complex.

But as soon as she and her colleagues start work in the Jacobean-style mansion, their dream turns into a nightmare. They hear screaming from wards full of empty beds. They hear doors slamming and find cutlery scattered over the kitchen floor. Then they see faces peering at them from the mullioned windows.

Lilian is pragmatic–she doesn't believe in the supernatural. But just when she's put her mind at rest by scouring the mansion from top to bottom and finding nothing, a former patient of St Philomena's arrives with a warning. The hospital is haunted. And it is haunted by something a thousand times more terrifying than ghosts...

fun story but narration is too much

the story was fun and kept me engaged. I did not like how the narrator went from reading to screaming to whispering. I'm pretty sure most listeners are using headphones and would agree how annoying that was to listen through. overall solid 4 star

Narrator / Story

This was indeed an entertaining ghost story and this was the best Narrator I have ever listened to, change to 6 or more characters, amazing...

Awesome unique story

The narrator was FANTASTIC in bringing all the characters to a life that was unique to each. Story was great. The only thing that didn’t really match was the title. I’m not sure I heard mention of Phantom Park more than once. But still an awesome story.

Haunting and gory!

Exactly the kind of movie i would watch. so made for a great book. im a sucker for a haunted asylum. personally i didn’t love the war angle but that’s just me being picky. all in all it was well written and a great story. would definitely recommend, and in fact, already have!

not worth the purchase

I was hopeful for this book but the narrator ruined it for me. she's too dramatic and all the voices and whispers of agony made me want to turn it off. I stuck it out since I paid for it. the story line is ok but just ok in my opinion. nothing to write home about.

The Trauma of Afghanistan

Its been said that Afghanistan is where the world goes to LOSE wars. Going back even to Sit Arthur Conan Doyle's Dr Watson, it has been a place holder for a place of terror and slaughter. In this story GM focuses on what happens when that terror and Pain comes home.
Have to admit I saw the ending coming a mile away, but not the VERY end, which made what I would have considered a bad ending a VERY good one.
Well worth the time and credit (even if at the time of listening it is currently Free in Audible + catalog) If you like horror this is a good one.

The narrator on this story was EXCELLENT one of the better female narrators I've heard! She did the voice changes well, to the point I forgot at times it wasn't a multi Voice recording.

Haunted

The Narrator did an amazing job with all the characters and their personalities.
Lily is determined to get a job done for the company she works for. Then things start happening and happening each day.
I loved the story and recommend if you like hauntings.

A Magnificent Partnership Makes the Book Come to Life

Graham Masterton, as he usually does, wrote a thoroughly scary book. A book that grips from the first word he wrote. It is, however, the narrator, Emma Gregory, that makes the characters come alive. You feel the horror and hopelessness Mr. Masterton wanted to convey. He and Emma made a truly magnificent partnership that, together, let the book live on in my mind long after hearing the last sentence. Thank you to both the author and the narrator for this book. It exceeded my expectations. Kim Bock.
