Publisher's summary

It's Labor Day in Blewestown, Alaska, and it seems most of the town's 3,500 residents have turned out to celebrate - or to cause trouble. Not Liam Campbell, though. He's checking out the local watering hole in his new town. He's finally made it out of Newenham and is ready for a quiet life with his wife.

He's been in town for about a week when an archaeologist invites him out to his dig site outside of town. He's on the verge of a momentous discovery, one he says will be worth the state trooper's time.

Two days later, the archaeologist is dead, murdered on his own dig site. And Liam Campbell is about to learn that he's traded one troubled bush town for another.

More please!

It is so good to have this Alaska saga back! I’ve missed all the characters and it picked up pretty close to where it ended. I hope we hear more from all of them with more books to come

Crime solution too abrupt

The book starts out well, with the main characters moving to a new town and meeting a new cast of characters. Murder occurs. Liam takes steps towards solving the crime. Then the solution is dropped into his lap and the book ends. It makes you wonder if a deadline had to be met, so it had to be wrapped up quickly. There was no satisfaction of seeing the puzzle pieces click into place or a trap closing around the perpetrator. At no time was the protagonist in danger. I really like Stabenow’s writing and know she can do better than this. I hope the next Kate or Liam book is back on track.

Lazy

As a Kate Shugak &Liam Campbell fan this isn't a bad book. It is just a lazy one, and there isn't much to it. Liam doesn't even solve the crime. If this was the first Dana Stabenow that I had never read I wouldn't be inclined to read another.

Good to meet old friends again

I didn’t enjoy the story line as much as the previous 5 books in this series, but it was nice to meet old friends (characters in the books are very compelling) again and know what happened to them

Love Dana Stabenow

So glad to hear have Liam back. Love the way Dana Stabenow writes and Msrguerite Gavin narration makes it all poetic.

Very short

There is interesting Kate S. snippet that may hint at a future story plot and bad guy.

Thankyou.Dana!

I fell in love with this series and dispared of ever having more. I loved it and want more. I miss Moses, but I miss Jack, and all the others. Like Wy, I flung the book across the room when Jack died, but I picked it up again. I will always pick it up again. I have read and listened to Marguerite tell and act the stories from beginning to current book four times. I have done the same with Liam. I read and listened first because I listen to most all of Marguerite 's performances since the first Hollows book. Then I got hooked on Dana and the rest is history. Please, Dana, make more Kate and Liam history. Please, Marguerite, perform them all!

Another great adventure

Glad she finally wrote another book to finish the Liam Campbell series, just wished it was longer. Her books paint a picture with words of Alaska. She creates such wonderful characters that you want to keep hearing about. Each book has an amazing mystery also that pulls you in. Her Kate Shugak books are my absolute favorite, some I’ve read 3 times. Great narration by Marguerite Gavin as usual.

Cliffhanger

I only hope the ending of this book indicates there will be a book 6. I read some of the other reviews, and while I don’t think this was Dana’s strongest effort, I totally was immersed, loved the characters, and enjoyed it, even the 2nd time around. Love Marguerite Gavin!,,
