About this listen

Three hundred years of history are in the beams and crumbling plaster of Delaney House. Seven thousand square feet of trash and dirt cover secrets, lies, and at least one murder.

Attorney Grace Reagan is determined to renovate the decaying mansion in Mallard Bay, Maryland, but before she can buy the first can of paint, a sinkhole turns out to be a grave. Her past unravels as lies are revealed and the little village on the Chesapeake Bay becomes a sinister place of secrets and betrayal.

Squatter's Rights is the first book in the Eastern Shore Mystery series.

The narration and writing style were good. I found myself not liking any of the characters, and I lost patience with the FMC. For a supposedly high-powered lawyer, she seemed surprisingly ineffectual and naive. I didn't find her a sympathetic character.

Abandoned the book about 2 hours from the end.

Everything was great except it drove me CRAZY listening to the narrator say DININT instead of DIDN'T the entire book. I know that is a minor issue but once you hear it it's similar to hearing someone saying axed for asked. Like fingernails down a chalk board!

The narrator needs to learn how to pronounce DIDN'T!!!

With shifts in time due of letters, etc I found the book rather confusing. You might not however

“Squatter’s Rights” is an entertaining book. I generally prefer to read about places other than where I live because authors typically don’t do it justice. The portion of the Eastern Shore with its Waterfowl Festival, etc., is very accurately described. I was pleasantly surprised at how interested the story kept me during a long solo drive. The narrator was quite good. I plan to listen to the second book at some point.

Good narration and interesting story
