About this listen

The U.S.S. Enterprise is stunned when famed scientist Lynn Costa is murdered in one of the ship's science labs. She and her husband, Emil, were known as science's greatest ongoing collaboration and together had received the Federation's highest honors for their achievements in scientific research.

Determined to see the culprit brought to justice, Captain Picard assigns Lt. Worf and Counselor Deanna Troi to the case. Their routine investigation of the ship's science lab soon reveals a dangerous web of deceit, betrayal, and madness. Now, Worf and Troi find themselves struggling against a ruthless assassin set on revenge, for whom murder is only the beginning.

Read this book when I was a teen. Wanted the nostalgia rush. Was surprised that Michael Dorn can modulate his voice. He can't do a convincing Picard or Troi, but he sounds about as good as any other voice actor attempting it

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it was a good star trek book. The narration was fairly good, but it could have been better in places. Still it was worth purchasing this book.

What other book might you compare Star Trek: The Next Generation: Contamination (Adapted) to and why?

I would compare it to other star trek books.

Which scene was your favorite?

Wesley Crusher's rescue

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really. It was fairly good story, but nothing really was moving about this book.

Warf and Deanna Save the World

I was simply amazed at the range of Michael Dorn's voice on playing all the characters in this book. It's a good story that's enhanced by Dorn's brilliant performance. His voice is naturally deep but he is able to go to such highs as to be very convincing when reading as Deanna Troy and Beverly Crusher. Very enjoyable!

Michael Dorn Was AMAZING!!!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend this book because the story was week and had a lot of logic flaws. I did not enjoy this story.

Which scene was your favorite?

The end.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

NO

Any additional comments?

Mr. Dorn's voice work is excellent, to bad it was wasted on a poorly written story.

Cheesy Story

If this is your first Star Trek audiobook, try something else! Michael Dorn is an excellent narrator, as are most of the Shakespearian trained actors that make up the Star Trek casts. That's the part that's totally worth a credit. But this story is lacking or perhaps it's the editing, I didn't actually read the original, so I can't say for sure!
For your first credits try some of the longer programs, like the unabridged version of Sarek or the 3h+ Shatnerverse books, or any of the longer recordings. I only got this because I already own all the other ST recordings. It's a real disappointment that audible hasn't put any of the modern Star Trek series such as Titan, Vanguard, and the Relaunch novels on audio (well actually they have... But only in German :-(
Anyway, I believe this is a recording you can skip or save as breadcrumbs for when you've worked your way through the other recordings!

But whatever you choose: listen to a full sample first! Some of the older Simon & Schuster "enhanced audio" recordings just turn into a cacophonous mess on the wrong speaker system ( yes, that includes tiles like Cacophony). Most of the short recordings are taken from masters that were originally recorded for cassettes or CD's and are thus not only shorter but also of inferior quality due to compression ratios.
Hope this helps!
Peace and Long Life

Not the best ST audio, not a wasted credit though!

Suspenseful and nostalgic as a Star Trek fan! Reminded me of a classic murder mystery but in TNG style!

Highly entertaining!

Pretty lackluster story overall. But, Michael Dorn was really good. Sorry of feels like a season 1 rejected script.

Dorn is great, the story isn't so hot.
