A restless, passionate Enterprise crew is called to Aleph Prime, where a demented physicist and murderer, Georges Mordreaux, must be transported to Rehabilitation Colony Seven. Incredibly, despite heavy security, Mordreaux breaks loose on board - and fatally guns down Captain Kirk! Suddenly the Enterprise is fighting for its life, while Spock realizes that Mordreaux is only part of a far more dangerous phenomenon. Mordreaux's past experiments have created alternate realities in the present, and known existence is beginning to unravel. Now Spock must count on Mordreaux himself to help undo what has already been done - and to bring Kirk back from the dead.
