About this listen

Decades before Star Wars: The Acolyte, Vernestra Rwoh must rediscover her place within the Jedi Order.

Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh has spent years exploring the Outer Rim as a Wayseeker, answering to no authority but the Force itself. When the Jedi Council orders her to return to Coruscant, Vernestra ignores the summons, feeling that her priority is the beings she’s already serving.

So the Council dispatches Jedi Knight Indara to track down Vernestra to deliver the urgent message that a Republic senator has formally requested Jedi assistance, asking for Vernestra’s aid by name. Intrigued, Vernestra quickly finds herself pulled back into Coruscant’s complicated world of Republic politics and underworld crime.

The two could not be more different: Vernestra, a Jedi Master who has known conflict and loss during her decades in the Order, and Indara, a young Knight just coming into her own as a Jedi in a galaxy at peace. Trust is slow to develop as they clash over their views on serving the Jedi Order, the galaxy, and the Force.

But they must work together to decipher the connection between the senator and a trail of dangerous weapons threatening to wreak havoc on the Republic. As the two delve further into their investigation, the lines between Jedi and Republic business blur, and Vernestra must rediscover what it means to serve for Light and Life.

Thoroughly enjoyed this adventure featuring an elder Vernestra Rwoh and introducing Jedi Knight Indara to the books (Carrie Anne Moss in the The Acolyte Disney+ series)

Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh has spent years exploring The Outer Rim as a Wayseeker (hence the (audio-)book title and she certainly isn't your "standard" Jedi Master.

Two different Jedi, one who has faced plenty of deadly foes and another who has only known (mostly) peace in the Galaxy.

They have to work together to face off against corrupt senators and weapons (both from past The High Republic stories) and fight against underworld criminals.

I enjoyed this story and it was finished before I knew it. You don't have to know much more of The High Republic books series and you don't have to have watched The Acolyte Disney+ series, but it might add to your listening (or reading) pleasure.

I enjoyed this book more than I expected to. I wasn’t too attached to Indara in The Acolyte like I was the other characters, but this story made me see both her and current Vernestra in a new light! Without giving spoilers, this story bridged the end of the Nihil conflict with the beginning of The Acolyte really well; and while we don’t know everyone who survived the brutality of the Nihil we know at least of few of our faves might still be kicking around the time of the Aniseya twins!!! It feels like this book was meant to intentionally give more context for The Acolyte S2 in a few ways, and while I hope we get to see that come to pass I’ll still enjoy this story on its own. What a fun ride!!

Heartwarming connections between The Acolyte and the Nihil conflict!

Powerful story of two powerful Jedi women finding their place in a vast and dangerous galaxy full of mystery intrigue and joy.

The perfect post script to the high republic saga

This is Justina's best work yet, and the definitive Vernestra Rwoh story. Tons of fun easter eggs for fans of the Acolyte, the High Republic, and Star Wars generally. And a perfect harbinger of the deterioration of both the Republic and the Jedi Order since the heyday of Vernestra's youth.

if you're a fan of Vernestra Rwoh, this book is like a love letter to your fandom

Seems to be an epilogue to the high republic. Way stronger characterizations than in the show tho. Jedi Indara even survives more than five minutes this time.

More high republic tie ins than acolyte

The narration, the story, the characters, the use of sound effects and music all worked together to craft a wonderful story. Forr fans of the High Republic and for fans of the Acolyte, this shows just how much the Jedi means to the galaxy and how quickly those views can change, based on who is in charge. I wish there was more! I was so sad when it ended. For Light and Life!

I own almost every Star Wars book at least from the last 15 years. This is one of my favorite. The story was excellent and interesting. The character development was great. I had a lot of fun listening to it and was sad when it was over. I plan to listen again in the near future.

Wow! I love this book
