About this listen

Figrin Da'n and the Modal Nodes - bopping Bithians and members in good standing of the Intergalactic Federation of Musicians - were under exclusive contract to Jabba's Palace. They were hoofing it up when Jabba's arch rival sent E522, a recycled assassin droid, to make them an offer they couldn't refuse.

Figrin Da'n didn't do weddings. But Lady Valerian had imported herself a Whipid mate from her homeworld and was dead set on getting hitched in high style. And what with Figrin Da'n's gambling debts, three thousand credits could set him up just fine. But before they could cut the cake, Lady Val's bounty hunter bridegroom took Jabba's bait, skipped town to find Han Solo, and the party exploded into murderous mayhem.

The Band's Backstory

If you're a Star Wars fan like me, you've read most (if not all) the many Star Wars novels in existence, including "Tales of the Mos Eisley Cantina" in which can be found this story, telling the history of the Bith band featured in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

However, this is not a dramatic reading by a single individual. This is a fully dramatized performance of the story by author Kathy Tyers, augmented with music both from the John Williams score, and featuring new original music for the band. I am not going to go into specifics into this story, except that it explains the band's history, how they angered Jabba the Hutt, and what led them to the Cantina at the fateful time when Han Solo and Chewbacca met up with Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The length of this story is one hour, and makes a great entertainment if you're driving in the car, or multitasking and can't take the time to read the book itself.

The only downside is that not all of the remarkable tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina have been so dramatized. Also available are "Nightlily: The Lovers' Tale", and although not on Audible, Timothy Zahn's entry "Hammertong: Tale of the Tonnika Sisters" was also recorded as a dramatic reading. If you can find that one, get it!

The best star wars dramatization of all

My favorite growing up and all the way to today along with the Lover's tale and the audiobooks read by Anthony Heald, my only regret was that they didn't finish and do the rest of the tales books the same way.
