Publisher's summary

No sooner has Darth Vader's funeral pyre burned to ashes on Endor than the Alliance intercepts a call for help from a far-flung Imperial outpost. Bakura is on the edge of known space and the first to meet the Ssi-ruuk, cold-blooded reptilian invaders who, once allied with the now dead Emperor, are approaching Imperial space with only one goal: total domination.

Princess Leia sees the mission as an opportunity to achieve a diplomatic victory for the Alliance. But it assumes even greater importance when a vision of Obi-Wan Kenobi appears to Luke Skywalker with the message that he must go to Bakura - or risk losing everything the Rebels have fought so desperately to achieve.

Not bad

This book was hard to read through but made a great audio book. As a audio book it make the story interesting catching.

Fantastic story

The book was amazing, only down side was the narration, many terrible mispronunciations, nothing that ruined the story.

It may seem petty, and that’s because its supposed to be, that is the only one thing I disliked about the book.

Brevity and clarity leaves something out

The narration/performance left something to be desired, especially considering that I had just before, listened to Revan and Deceived, from the Old Republic series, which were masterfully done. I just don't care for abridgment I guess. Still, it was a great story and I enjoyed it thoroughly, as I'm sure any true fan would.

Good intro to Legends

Although dated and abridged this still serves as a good intro to the Star Wars Legends timeline. Good performance from the reader is a plus

Truce at Bakura

While not my favorite tale in the EU it beats the new books by miles. Even abridged. It takes place minutes after RTOJ. Wedge Antillies discovers a message sent to the Empire from Bukura. A message pleading for the now dead Palpatine’s help. Instead, with newly knighted Jedi Luke Skywalker (yeah the one you remember), Han, Leia, and Chewbacca to help. While welcome at first (Bukura is an Imperial planet) the threat of the Ssi-Ruuk invasion... I like to listen to think of the abridged books as audiomovies of paperbacks I love.

Great book, disappointed with the audiobook

Read this in paperback years ago and was excited to revisit it with this audiobook. The abridged version gets the gist of the story, but three hours really doesn't do it justice. It was sad knowing how much was missing here. Although the reading did improve dramatically after the first 20 minutes (narrator forgot to stop to breath lol), he kept pronouncing words funny ("Han", "Palpatine", etc) and his characterization of voices felt way off. It's like he'd never even watched the movies himself. My suggestion? Skip this one and grab the paperback instead.

My first Star Wars book

I am new to the Star Wars books and decided to start with the one right after the the 6th episode. I loved this story, and it's was amazing how close Luke and Dev had gotten in a short time. The way the scenes are described makes you feel like you are thee. For this to be my first book from Audible I will definitely be getting more books from here.

abridged!

why make an audiobook if you're just going to cut out the story, its a great book but it's a shame it's missing.
