About this listen

An action-packed novel that ushers in a new age of adventure in the critically acclaimed StarCraft series from Blizzard Entertainment.

Award-winning author Timothy Zahn pens the latest chapter in the stunning StarCraft saga, building on the game's rich legacy to create an unforgettable new story.

After nearly a decade of brutal warfare, three mighty factions - the enigmatic Protoss, the savage Zerg, and the Terrans, humanity's descendants in the sector - have entered a cease-fire, but the peace is tenuous at best. When the sudden restoration of an incinerated planet is brought to light, tensions erupt. Neutrality swings back to hostility, and old enemies are accused of developing biological weapons to reignite the bitter conflict.

An expedition of Terran and Protoss soldiers and researchers is deployed to investigate the mysterious Zerg planet and its inhabitants' intentions. But the lush alien landscape is host to other denizens, creatures shrouded in shadow, and should they be unleashed, they will change the fate of the entire galaxy.

worth every minute

Seeing as how Starcraft was my first RTS game, and I played through all the games thus far, when I saw this on Audible I just knew I had to listen to it.
Every moment was great, from the mood setting, to the narration, to the storyline, to the characters and everything.
I admit, I was kind of disheartend with the fact that this all happens on the same planet and in 1 day, but overall this is an amazing book.
A must to every fan of the franchise, simply amazing and worth every minute of it.

A slow build up to the action but entertaining

I found that some of the lines from the characters were a little cliche. However, the story performance and action are all top-notch.

Expertly narrated, believable tactics, satisfying

I read Timothy Zahn's Star Wars books when I was an adolescent and was always thoroughly blown away by the intelligence of the tactics, and believable expertise of the military commanders, woven together with a fun story. Being 34 now and much more jaded, I was pleasantly surprised to find this story gave me those same impressions. I do wish his writing was longer and more detailed sometimes, but it really doesn't hurt the book that it isn't. I just want more of these to read!

played the game enjoy the books

while at times it seemed to overuse phrases it was a good read. it follows the story line of the Blizzard computer games and the author does a great job of putting those game missions in an engaging format.

Good story solid characters but not revolutionary

Being an avid fan of starcraft period I was interested in this book , narration was good but having played Starcraft 2 and heroes of the storm I could clearly know what Artanis and other characters were supposed to sound like so that was a bit distracting but the man did a good attempt And would have been satisfactory if I didn't know what the characters should sound like. After reading star wars knights of the old republic Revan which takes place after the point the game left off just like this story takes place after legacy of the void. I can say I find Kotor Revan to be the more true story that compliments the spirit of the series. There's nothing wrong with Starcraft evolution but there's nothing revolutionary plots solid and the characters to but this isn't about Artanis , Raynor, or Kerrigan main characters we have played with in the series we just get new characters with supporting help from Starcraft secondary characters within the games themselves. A solid read just no emotional punch or satisfying twist.

An excellent continuation of the Star Craft legacy

Continuing on after the Amon crisis the 3 factions strive to maintain a peace and still forge their own path ahead.
