Earth is dying. Hope waits light-years away on Arcadia, a planet veiled in cyan atmosphere...and harboring a dark side.
On the last day of Cassie’s starship journey to her new home, her father is killed in a mysterious explosion. Somehow, she manages to escape death - helped by a vanishing stranger with otherworldly blue-green eyes.
But his presence lingers in her dreams.
Officials swear the explosion was a horrible accident, but she’s convinced they are hiding something....
About her father. About Arcadia.
Orphaned and alone, Cassie begins to see curious glowing visions and soon the boy with the cyan eyes reemerges. He offers her one chance to uncover what became of her father and the secrets the planet holds.
Two worlds collide, and a powerful attraction draws her to Javen. She can’t say no to the opportunity....
Even if saying yes forces her to choose between saving humanity or saving Arcadia.

I really enjoyed this story. It’s a little like the movie Avatar: greedy humans plundering a new planet to the detriment of its original inhabitants. But I really enjoyed the skews that took it in a slightly different direction! I won’t say what, because I don’t want to ruin it for you.
The book is fairly short, so it’s an easy read, and there is plenty of action to keep you invested in what is happening. I’m really looking forward to seeing the next book and how the characters and story continue to develop.
Very Enjoyable

Oh this book has all kinds of great elements!! The characters are great, mystery, cute boy or two!! What else do you need!! I highly recommend the audiobook as well. The narrator was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hated to put my headphones off. Loved getting lost in this world!

I became a fan of her writing after listening to The Configured Trilogy. Penner gives you female characters that you can relate to and get emotionally invested in. Starfire is no exception. You follow Casseopiea as she and her father travel to a new world to create a new life for humanity. Cass is surprised to enjoy her life until a group of terrorists attack and everything she knows is slipped upside down.
The narrator is perfect for the character and doesn't bore you or overdo the emotional. This makes for a pleasant listening experience.
overall, I loved the story. It was unique and the romance wasn't overly cheesy or present. It worked well with the story.
I would encourage other YA fans to have a read or listen to this book. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.
I received a free copy from th3 author, but all opinions are my own.

Magic but in the form of misunderstood science is one of my favorite magic types. I really appreciate the concepts Jenetta Penner puts forwards in saving the world and creating a new colony but this one just wasn’t for me.
I really appreciate the character building and the descriptions of both boys has me torn in who I support as the romantic interest. The narrator did a good job with emotions and descriptions in her voice as well. I just had a hard time getting through it and won't be reading the sequels.

Starfire is a book perfectly suited for its genre, in YA Space scifi & fantasy. It deals with landing on a new planet where they are not alone... but it's not the locals that have sinister agenda but the incoming humans.
Its a light space fantasy since we don't get a in depth back story about how they came upon a new planet, since we start of with MC being already enroute and lands into thorny situation upon reaching the planet.
THE Alcou, it's an interesting concept dealing with multiple dimensions and their life source is under danger from being tampered by human.
I feel the parts with Jivan were rushed, our MC could've gleaned more but their interactions were too short on discoveries but to much on angst.
Cassie, our MCs goal was to find out what happened to her father prior landing, but with the Alcous survival on the line she.... Obviously takes matter into her own hands.... And I'm sorry to say it felt a bit too easy.
She somehow has all the right people at her reach and are blindly going along with her....
However, the overall story was enjoyable, I will be listening to the sequel to see where the story picks from book1
