This program is read by the author, world-renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Bringing his cosmic perspective to civilization on Earth, Neil deGrasse Tyson shines new light on the crucial fault lines of our time—war, politics, religion, truth, beauty, gender, and race—in a way that stimulates a deeper sense of unity for us all.

In a time when our political and cultural views feel more polarized than ever, Tyson provides a much-needed antidote to so much of what divides us, while making a passionate case for the twin chariots of enlightenment—a cosmic perspective and the rationality of science.

After thinking deeply about how science sees the world and about Earth as a planet, the human brain has the capacity to reset and recalibrates life’s priorities, shaping the actions we might take in response. No outlook on culture, society, or civilization remains untouched.

With crystalline prose, Starry Messenger walks us through the scientific palette that sees and paints the world differently. From insights on resolving global conflict to reminders of how precious it is to be alive, Tyson reveals, with warmth and eloquence, an array of brilliant and beautiful truths that apply to us all, informed and enlightened by knowledge of our place in the universe.

Took me a minute

I listen to his podcasts all the time but I guess I just wasn’t sure what to expect. In my mind it would have been more regular boom format but it was really just his stream of thought from one topic to the next. Not really his fault just took me a minute to figure out the flow.

WE NEED MORE STARRY MESSENGERS

Neil is one of those authors / personalities people usually like a lot or don’t like at all. I like him, find him brilliant and believe he has come up with a new way to think about so many issues that we confront as a civilization today. The perspective of the universe or a starry messenger is needed to strip away the many layers of bias and misinformation that are crippling our world.

This book should be required reading in all high schools. It’s perfect for Theory of Knowledge. I am currently using it in my TOK class now in Beijing, China. Thanks NDT! - Carlos

I love this!

This speaks to me it highlights the overview effect which is how i try to view the world everyday.

If you see any negative comments on here its because they cant step back and imagine this effect. So you should listen to this book for yourself and form your own opinion.

You, With the Stars in Your Eyes …

The enormity of existence hopefully is patient enough for all who participate to understand its magnificence someday. Maybe then conflict will be the oddity of history and contribution will be the stepping stone to discovery.

Thank you, Dr. Tyson. I appreciate you sharing thoughts I could never have imagined.
