Every game begins with a good starting line.
Ethan
I've been secretly married for eight years. Why is it a secret? Because having an open marriage splashed all over headlines isn't a good look. We'd constantly be under the spotlight, our lives and relationships judged. That's not the kind of hockey player I want to be known for, especially because we play for different teams.
Although most of my relationships outside of my marriage are passing, I've been pining over my best friend and teammate for years. Years! Just as I decide that maybe it's time to see where this leads, management throws an unexpected play in our faces.
It might be over before it begins, and I'm not sure what to do about it.
Creed
Since the day I was swapped to Buffalo, I've been in love with Ethan Wilder. He's an intense player, breaking records every year. But he's also fun, sweet, thoughtful, and gorgeous. He's everyone's perfect dream.
When he tells me he wants to be more than friends, I almost jump him right there in the locker room. Things between us heat up quickly, and I've never been happier. Everything is perfect.
Except for our starting line. We've been through four right wingers in the last three seasons, but no matter who management brings on board, they just don't gel with me and Ethan. Now they've thrown us a trick play that I'm not sure we're going to be able to work around—on the ice or off.
It's not just the starting line we need to worry about. This complication could put the entire team—and our new relationship—on ice.
This is an LGBT+ (MMM) story intended for mature listeners.

Ethan, Creed & Jakob are a stunning bunch of MCs and I adored their story, and the way the author approached the subject of polyamory. The complexity of the characters and their interactions are refreshing. I found the Buffalo hockey team so easy to love and I wish we could all experience that level of support in our real lives. What a wonderful world Reitan has created in this series!
I thoroughly enjoyed the voice actors and felt they were well cast.
Intimate scenes were well scripted with lots of yummy detail to imagine along with the words.
All-in-all a beautiful story and a listen worthy of a credit.
Super hot and sweet

I loved this story. Jakob was so amazing. He is so attentive, loving, caring, devoted and protective. Ethan is kind generous and gives his all. Creed is the lost puppy dog. He wants to belong. He is faithful and sweet.
All are hockey players. Ethan and Creed are openly gay but Jakob is not. Ethan and Jakob are secretly married with an open relationship. Ethan and Jakob are on different teams so have been apart more than together but they love each other fiercely. They also love their private life. Ethan and Creed are on the same team and have been flirting with each other for 3 years before they act on it. Of coarse there is a wrench thrown into the mix when Jakob get traded to their team. As far as everyone thinks Ethan and Creed are a couple. They are in for a surprise.
I was blown away by how Jakob is such a caregiver and his attention to detail and the needs and wants of Ethan and eventually Creed is astounding. He is truly the best husband.
The story of the three of them gets leaked and all hell breaks loose. Their teammates are so protective of the three and it is a breath of fresh air to read about. Jakob turns into papa bear and gets even more protective of Ethan and Creed. Seriously he is so amazing.
Of coarse the spice is spicy and yeah, really good.
So many haters on polyamory but if you find not one but two mates and it works why the hell would you not go for it. The haters can just hate but Love Is Love Is Love.

This is technically the second book in the series but it is not related to the first book at all. I don't even think they mentioned those characters.
I liked the secret gay open marriage with a BFF side relationship that winds up a triad. Interesting concept. All 3 MMC were great. Jakob wasn't featured as much in the beginning and I was worried it would be the Ethan and Credence show, but after the big trade, it was much better and more even.
The bad ...some of the dialogue was a little weird. There were a lot of side characters. Like, a lot. And they were very detailed. I was a little confused about who was who, and I'm wondering if they are from a different series because it seemed like I was supposed to know them. I didn't stress too much about it though.
The audio was great. Jakob's accent changed a little at times, especially during longer chapters, but nothing that would discourage me from listening again.
great MMM hockey romance
