About this listen

Grace Walker doesn't do relationships. She spent her childhood in and out of foster homes, she and her siblings looking after each other when their drug-addicted mother couldn't. With such a dysfunctional family, Grace just doesn't think she's relationship material. She'd rather play the field and otherwise keep to herself. But then she runs into someone from her childhood: Eva Carrington, an orphaned heiress who did a brief stint in a children's home alongside Grace. The two felt a strong connection as children, and now that they're adults, it's even stronger. But Grace sticks to her guns: she doesn't do relationships, and she's certain kind, intelligent Eva deserves better than her anyway. But then someone else from the past hurts Eva badly to get revenge on Grace for some perceived slight, and Eva ends up pregnant. When she makes the difficult decision to have the baby, Grace promises to be there for mother and child no matter what. But with this makeshift family on her hands, can Grace keep pretending she doesn't love Eva?

An OK book when you don’t have anything else to read

I read/listen to better books, the story id good and it kept me listening, it had some redundant parts, but not so bad, but the narration was not very good, it was monotonous, the only good part was the epilogue....

Great!

I thought I had the ending of this book pegged, usually I can guess the endings, I was pleasantly surprised when I was wrong. I really enjoyed that the book was split into two parts so I could enjoy more of the story rather than a cliffhanger before a new book. Fantastic story and excellent narration. Definitely worth the listen!

I hadn’t really considered this option

There was a lot of violence in the first part of the story that I wasn’t really crazy about. I understand the set up that the author Michelle Arnold was creating but Grace didn’t seem to suffer from the moral consequences. I thought Jacq Ainsworth did a wonderful job narrating. Overall it’s a difficult story to recommend just because of the subject and not knowing others experiences.

A Wonderfully written story!

I can be a picky listener of audiobooks at times... The author needs to be a good writer. The story needs to be somewhat realistic. The characters need to be likable and relatable. Above all there has to be good character development. Wow... this book had it all! Seriously, trust me, and listen to this book. It was everything I wanted at the moment. The relationship development, the ache, the anticipation..so great. I liked Grace and I loved Eva. I liked that the story took place over a span of several years. I liked that it wasn’t a typical Love story-yet it was. It was very well written. I was glued and listening to the very end. Now I am a fan of Michelle Arnold and I Loved this book when I originally read it, but I loved it even more after listening to it! Note: as for the Narration of this book, I will have to admit, it took me a chapter or two to really get used to the narrator (Jacq Ainsworth) but after that it flowed well and she did a great job with the different voice overs. With that said, My heart hurts..I want more. It was just what I was looking for. 5 stars. Bravo.

Sweet Story!

At times challenging, I still enjoyed this book. The author did a great job, especially with sensitive subject matter. I'd recommend this book overall!

Great love story

Stay was a great love story. There were parts that were hard to read about but the overall story was good.

I also enjoyed the narrators voice and interpretation of the story

So beautiful

Out of an act of violence came joy and happiness. These two characters were always meant to be together. They have so much love and an amazing outlook for the future. I found the narrator a little fast but she reflected the emotions of the characters wonderfully. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook.

Loved this one

This is a wonderful story about 2 people struck by some kind of unfortunate incident that got them together at last.

HEA

The book dealt with a difficult subject and I was glad in the end that the couple, despite the emotional and physical trauma, were able to find their way. Be aware, those of you with certain triggers may find parts of it difficult but know that in the end there is a HEA.

No emotion and flat narration

I read the reviews extensively before purchasing this book, so i was expecting a lot more. The story lacked the emotions associated with the subject matter. It deals with a difficult topic that wasn’t written with the sensitivity needed. The story felt rushed and glossed over. It was unrealistic and superficial. There was no depth at all.

I felt no emotions from the MC’s and the narration was too fast paced and sounded robotic. I had to set the speed slower just to be able to listen to it.
