About this listen

In the fall of 1941, Anglo-American journalist John Russell is still living in Berlin, tied to the increasingly alien city by his love for two Berliners: his 14-year-old son, Paul, and his longtime girlfriend, Effi. Forced to work for both German and American Intelligence, he's searching for a way out of Germany. Can he escape and take Effi with him?

I just finished this, the 3rd in the series and the best one yet. I am on to the 4th after writing this review. I have tried listening to two other books since I finished Stettin Station but nothing is working for me until I find out what John Russell is going to do next. The narrator Simon Prebble is perfect.

Love this series

I've gone through the first three books in this series in about two weeks. Happily enthralled, for sure, but as has been mentioned in other reviews, the recording quality is not great. It's clear that different recordings were chopped up and pieced together for this particular audiobook and it's can be distracting.

Another great story, poor production

Another satisfying novel in the John Russell series. Compelling plot and appealing characters. Recommend to fans of WWII fiction.

Wonderful historical detail

I love this series. The twists and turns are not predictable. Something was off with the narration and it would occasionally shift to a different voice or tone. But it was brief and not that bothersome. The book itself was worth it and I will listen again!

The book was soooo good!

The story was great but the recording was horrible. You could tell where it seemed to be “cut and pasted” which was very distracting
