About this listen

Stevie-girl and her best friend, Jase, are phantom magnets. Whenever they are together, the doorway between this world and the next swings slightly open. The summer his parents treat them to a camping trip in New Mexico, the two friends can't wait to visit the legendary Crybaby Bridge. Right away, they hear the crying baby.

Is it a phantom, or is someone playing tricks on them? As the two friends scour the campgrounds for answers, they discover that phantoms are not the only secrets the nearby town has kept hidden for over 60 years. They also discover things about each other, and about Stevie's family history, that will force their relationship to a whole new level - a level from which there may be no return.

So good! And kid safe!

What did you love best about Stevie-Girl and the Phantom of Crybaby Bridge?

The creepy doll and the bear! I love being scared out of my WITS!!! In an easy going way, of course...

What was one of the most memorable moments of Stevie-Girl and the Phantom of Crybaby Bridge?

When the old guy came home for Stevens funeral. He had to explain the secrets of the town, from 60 years ago. Stevie and Jase were overhearing the story, while they hung out nearby!

Have you listened to any of Abby Elvidge’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Just these two books. I love her performances, though!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes. Pretty much any time Stevie was emotionally screwed, I was too! Especially when Carla was being such a flirt with Jase!!!!!

Any additional comments?

This is a book that I probably would have recommended for young readers, but never read. I am SO glad that the author gifted this to me ! My eleven yr old son enjoyed this series immensely, and it kept his crazy butt QUIET during our long drives this week for vacation! Ty!!!!!

Charming Ghost Story set in 1970's Texas!

Any additional comments?

Stevie-Girl and the Phantom Of Crybaby Bridge is another extremely enjoyable ghost story by Ann Swan. This is the third book in the Phantom Series and I was to happy to hear that #4 is on the way! All of the books center around teenagers, Stevie and Jase, as they experience life growing up in the early 1970's Texas and ghosts needing assistance finding the great hereafter.

In Phantom of Crybaby Bridge, Stevie and Jase are haunted by two ghosts while on a camping trip with Jase's parents - a young girl and a wailing mother. I really enjoyed how the two teens help piece together what happened more than 50 years ago. I can't tell you more without giving away any major plot points!

As with the last book, I was reminded of my first kiss nearly 35 years ago and all the conflicting emotions that go along with it. I'm looking forward to reading and listening to many more books in this series and to see how Stevie and Jase grow up into young adults.

Abby Elvidge narrated this book, who did another outstanding job (she narrated the Phantom Student as well). She was very believable as teenagers and provided different voices for each of the characters - young and old. Bravo!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Stevie, as always!

Have you listened to any of Abby Elvidge’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Stevie-Girl book ....she was a great Stevie-Girl...and I would listen to her again...she is good!!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Ohhh there were several..The first kiss, Grandpa, The ending....Stevie is so sweet and wholesome...it is so refreshing!!!

Any additional comments?

** I was given a free copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review **

I love Stevie-Girl! and this was a Solid 4.5...I would have given it a 5, but I found a few parts kind of repetitive....and that was unnecessary...Plus there wasn't much of a ghost story....this is more of a growing up book for Stevie....but the story was still solid, and I loved that Stevie went camping with Jace and his family...it was kind of a healing trip for them all...Yes there was a couple of ghosts, but this story is not as concentrated on them...and I loved how this is set up for a book 4, and that Jace and Stevie are getting closer to a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship...I think they will grow up, get married and live happily ever after!!! lol

LOVELY LISTEN!!!!

Volume 3

Any additional comments?

I was thrilled that this was a continuing series. Stevie and her best friend Jase accompany Jase's parents on a camping trip that leads them to a mysterious bridge complete with the legend of a crying baby and a woman in white. There's fun, danger, adventure, and plenty of mystery. So far I enjoy the 3 audiobooks of this series.

Lovely story-paranormal happenings for Young Adult

Any additional comments?

This series is one I hope is available for students in school. Throughout all three books, author Ann Swann reminded me how love and family along with good friends are so important in our lives. Stevie-girl draws us in with her candor, bravery and compassion for people she meets while simply living. The events in her life provide some valuable lessons many people find difficult to learn.Stevie-girl and the Phantom of Crybaby Bridge is written in first person, Stevie-girl’s voice, as with all the series. The lovely narrator, Abby Elvidge has the perfect voice to make this story just as lovely as the author created it. Her youthful voice in dialogue and internal dialogue is very engaging and makes Stevie-girl such a real character I could reach out to touch her.I loved their camping trip, for I as a young’un, I had my fair share of them. The story brings back great memories which is part of the charm of the series.Chase and Stevie-girl are the best of friends and through each book they become closer, more trusting of each other and since Stevie-girl is now fourteen, she is starting to see Chase as more than just a good friend. Chase’s feelings are deepening and we get to experience the wonder of true friendship built on the high ground, so to speak. Their camaraderie touches the heart while the story, simple as it is, holds adventure, mystery and a bit of the paranormal—where ghosts are insistent on getting their points across.I sure hope Ann Swann will continue the series. And if she does, count me in – to be continued on audio!

I Love the Phantom Series and hope there's more

I Love the Phantom Series and hope there's more to come. These are great stories for all. Actually, I would have really enjoyed these when I was younger. Ann Swann gets it. Her writing is smooth and the characters are natural and very easy to like.

Great writing paired with Abby Elvidge's tremendous narration skills is a complete win. She does a fabulous job with the characters and sound effects. She's a natural. I hope if this series continues, she does the narration.

Overall, loved it and would definitely recommend.
