About this listen

Baking. It can get a guy killed.

When retired cop Albert arrives in Stilton for a festival, he has cheese on his mind, but that’s not what he gets....

Arriving the morning after the factory and warehouse have been raided, all the stilton is gone, and the security guard Dave, who bravely fought to stop the thieves, needs someone’s help to save the day.

With sidekick Rex Harrison, the failed police dog, at his side, our aging but sprightly hero will put his ear to the ground and his mind to work as he unravels the clues to this mystery.

Rex and Albert will be tested like never before in this quiet English town as they catch the first glimpse of a criminal mastermind at work.

Can they find the cheese in time to save the festival? Will Rex be able to smell the answer with all the stinky cheese around? It’s a race against time to solve this crime but is there something bigger going on? Can this really just be about some moldy cheese?

Highly Entertaining

Albert and Rex are at it again. They’ve traveled to Stilton, England to attend the Stilton Festival and learn about the famous cheese. No sooner do they arrive than they’re drawn into an investigation of the theft of the town’s full inventory of its cheese. What’s to happen to the festival? Then things escalate, and Albert and Rex are deep into discovering who’s behind the robbery.

I absolutely love Albert and Rex. They never fail to entertain and inform. There are points where they make me laugh out loud, and others where I’m intensely concerned for their well-being. Most of all, I can’t wait to see how they work together, without being able to communicate, to solve the crime.

The writing is fast paced and snappy. I listened to the audiobook, and the narration is perfectly matched to the book’s intent. The narrator’s performance never leaves you guessing about which character is speaking. The voices he’s created are perfectly matched to the written character.

I highly recommend this book, and the entire series. I can’t wait to read more about Albert and Rex.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author through Audible. I thank all involved for their generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.

Stilton Slaughter Albert Smith's Culinary Capers,

Albert is on the move once again..this time to Stilton for the annual Stilton Festival. He arrives while the police are at the factory. With a little nosy investigation, he finds out that all the Stilton has been stolen. The higher ups decide to keep the theft from everyone. He meets the local copper, Oxdford, and develops a fondness for the young man. He really did not want to get involved but he is very fond of cheese. Then the cheese theft is intertwined with a counterfeit ring and suddenly a simple cheese outing is not so simple. Especially when Albert comes up with a theory that will vindicate Oxford and his dad.
Charles Robert Fox is once again phenomenal as Albert and brings him to life!
A fantastic audio and story!!
