Publisher's summary

The Vampire Knitting Club decides to take part in Oxford's Holiday Market, selling exquisite hand-knit scarves, sweaters, and gift items. Their most popular item is the hand-knit Christmas stocking, brightly colored and extra-long to squeeze in a few extra small gifts.

But when a sales clerk in another booth is found strangled with one of the stockings, Lucy Swift and her undead detectives are on the case, determined to find out who would do such a terrible thing. And why.

In the meantime, Lucy's working hard at her spell book, learning to be a witch, with the help of her black cat familiar and her new assistant. Meritanum is a 3,000-year-old Egyptian witch, and she's having trouble with some of the concepts of modern life, such as traffic, smart phones, and anything powered by electricity.

Life at Cardinal Woolsey's knitting shop in Oxford, England, is as colorful as the most garish Christmas sweater.

The twist at the end

Too much back story at beginning of the story so I just fast forward through it

eh

the narrator does not do this book justice, it might be an editing issue, but she speaks so quickly and there isn't much change in her tone for the different characters.
the author really tried to put in a plot twist, and I gotta commend that. the main character was slightly more likeable, and the author focused a bit more on the witchy prowess.

Fun fantasy whodonit!

This series is really fun easy listen with enough twists and turns to entertain- but if you are looking for suspense and no idea of who culprit is- that may be disappointing- you pretty much can figure that out right away- but the story to conclusion is engaging with interesting characters so you listen on! Have loved this lighthearted series so far!

Knitting, spells and murder go together, even during holidays.

Lucy’s a fledgling witch, navigating her craft, running a yarn shop inherited from her grandmother and a vampire knitting club running a holiday craft booth. What could go wrong? A mystery, murder during the holiday shopping, and an attempted murder with a hand knitted holiday stocking. Lucy and the vampires are good at sleuthing and get right to gathering clues.

A Bit Predictable

A little bit more predictable than the previous stories but never the less enjoyable.

Christmas Season Mysteries and Magic

We return to Lucy Swift navigating her shop's first holiday market and is quickly pulled into a quick paced mystery involving stalkers, rumors of Tolkien sized plagiarism, and twists a plenty. The vampire friends continue to amuse and assist, Lucy is slowly gaining confidence in her magic, and hints of romance weave their way through the background of the story. This volume is another great addition to the series with a level of twists and stories interweaving and drawing in the audience with Lucy's new market friend in the center. Unlike the other volumes most of this story is out and about in the market and throughout Oxford and not centered at the store. It is fascinating to watch Lucy utilize her connections in the police by calling on the familiar Ian and when less legal methods are needed her friend Rafe the elegant vampire. In many ways Lucy is becoming more accustomed to moving between worlds and utilizing everything at her disposal to help those she cares about. It is delightful to listen to these stories unfold and watch this world develop. The twists and turns in this story continue to the very end and felt fun and engaging. Really looking forward to the next volume.
