About this listen

Striving While Black is a personal reflection, a playbook and a portable mentor for African-Americans and others who didn't and don't have the advantage of trailblazers who have gone before them in forging a successful corporate career. Success in corporate America is based on not only what you know - but, as importantly, who you know and who will sponsor you, share information with you as well as advocate for you. This book shares in a straight talking manner what those who feel marginalized in corporate need to do for themselves to be seen as competitive and value added.

I found myself saying, WOW someone has walked this path and documented a strategy on how to counter the adversity. I was truly frustrated in my corporate climb and decided what the hay! I tried a concept that led to another use of one Kwame's well-articulated concept then found myself referring back to sections for additional guidance. Truly insightful, this manual was crafted for our situations. All I can say is Thank you! Extreme gratitude, I am now at the VP level and I'm just getting started for my next chapter!

This book is an invaluable guide to those blacks, young and old, who striving for a successful career in any organization or field of endeavor, but especially in those where they are in the minority. I think any person who is an outsider can benefit from reading this book. Just substitute "female, or, latino, or gay, or non-Judeo Christian for black in the phrase "Striving While..." and it can help anybody. I only wish it were longer. I can't wait for the audio version of "Black Over White" to come out.
