About this listen

I'm Muse Harper. I'm a twenty-something painter who loves red wine, quirky movies, and men with fatal flaws. But that was before I met Jasper King. He became my fatal flaw. Eight months ago I had a choice to make - abandon everything I've ever known to protect my family or stay and risk someone getting hurt. I chose the former. My plan was working just fine until I found out my father had gone missing. That was when I met Jasper. A bounty hunter with the eyes of a tiger and the nose of a bloodhound, he was supposed to help me find my father. What I didn't know was that meeting him was no accident. Hunting people isn't all that Jasper does. And helping me was only part of his plan. I just wish I'd found out sooner, before my heart got involved. But even then, I don't know if I'd have done things differently. Now I have another choice to make - trust the man I'm falling in love with and hope he'll do the right thing or run as far away from him as I can get.

This author pulled you in slowly. Had a good plot. But the narrator was awesome 👏🏻. Hat’s off to you.

Great Story

I just wish there was more background on Jasper and his friends. I know his trauma as a pre teen but after that not much is said.
Muse falls in love fast but I guess it’s believable. The best part is the mystery connection between the two and how it plays out. That said, it was missing the family connection at the end.
Joe Arden has a fabulous voice but his feminine is s bit high ending and I love CJ Blooms voice but not so much her masculine persona. They’re not BAD but not the best.
Anyway, it’s a 2 Thumbs Up listen.

not my cup of tea

I don't think I've ever read a MFC that I rolled my eyes harder with. I mean Muse is absolutely clueless. I literally cringed at her. I yelled at my Echo dot when she went with Matt to "find her dad". The performance was excellent though. This audios only saving point.

Exciting and sexy

I loved the action, mystery excitement and anticipation that was heavily laden in this book. Throwing in the intense chemistry and self sacrificing love, it was a hit.

Joe Arden was excellent. Perfect for such a male lead. I was a bit disappointed with CJ Bloom's performance. I found her gaining and losing her accent constantly throughout the book and it was distracting.

A RIVETING SUSPENSE & A POWERFUL LOVE STORY

When feisty and confident Muse hired a Bounty Hunter because her Father goes missing she wasn't expecting the drop-dead gorgeous man that confidently walked into her life who had charm, charisma, mystery and he oozed sex appeal. Her mouth dropped open, she was speechless, he took her breath away and her sleeping libido suddenly woke up and begged "take me, use me, I'm yours". But Jasper was guarded, complex, a closed book, wasn't what he seemed and the only truth about him was that he was equally attracted to Muse. However, he wasn't about to do anything about it because he knew the deadly secrets that he had to keep hidden.... about himself, about Muse and her Father and about his top secret covert mission. Is he going to be the super-hero or the villain..... or perhaps both?

They start a road trip from San Diego to South Carolina to find Muse's Father - and I can't say more because this is your journey to take, to enjoy, to savor and to uncover the many twists, surprises, shocks, suspense, thrilling action, humor, intense sexual tension and the romance, sex and the beautiful love story that slowly developed. A love story despite emotional scars, lies, unanswered questions, hidden feelings, guilt, nail-biting danger, heartbreak and an unknown enemy/enemies who are out for blood. Jasper himself said " he is the worst thing" for Muse "but he'll feel like the best"..... and he was so right and oh so wrong.

Worth a credit? Dual POV's, interesting likeable characters, great narration (especially Joe Arden's sexy voice) and a WOW of a storyline that drew me in from the start, easily kept me there hooked on every single scene and a happy ending...... however the enemy/enemies are yet to be discovered and destroyed. But I'm sure that the next book will be about one of the other 'team' members. A 5 star riveting, delicious start to a series and very very creditworthy.

Exciting and sexy story

The story is nice, thrilling at some parts and the love scenes is sexy! Performance is not bad either and the male voice is sexy as hell! I would recommend this book.

A bit conflicted

I love Joe Arden, he's hands down my favorite male narrator. But this one was a bit of a struggle. There were pros and cons to it, I guess. I ended up starting and stopping it often.

Pros: The story was interesting enough, it started off better than it finished. I thought it would be a bit more gritty than it ended up being.

Cons: The woman read in a southern accent the entire time, and it was admittedly a bit distracting at first. She had a nice, soothing narration voice, and you get accustomed to the accent, just expect it. However, she had a TERRIBLE male voice. It was awful. Also, she was very breathy, when I had headphones on I could hear every inhale. I counted all of her breaths instead of listening. Yikes.

The story starts out strong, but starts to pander a bit. Insta-attraction though the author tries to temper it somewhat with the plot, but it's there. I don't want to give any plot spoilers, so I won't give out specifics. The heroine is just a little wishy-washy to me, and I prefer strong female leads when given the option :-) She ended up just being dragged along for the ride.

Good story goes cheesey

When the book first started I thought this is going to be a good emotional journey book. I was very disappointed instead I got overdramatized insta-love smut. I for one don't mind unrealistic storylines because come that the point to reading/listening to books. I kept feeling like I missed something. I kept wonder if it was the female narrator that made the book sickening or simply was it the words that she had to read. I would love to go into more but I don't want to be a spoiler. All I know I've listened to a lot of books and never wished that the dramatics would end so the story could be finished.
