About this listen

Team: A.L.P.H.A.: Six battle-hardened alphas with one goal - to save any omega in peril.

David Dempsey, the younger omega brother of Team ALPHA’s crazy twin duo, has gone missing after a camping trip with some human friends. He'd only planned to celebrate his upcoming college graduation - but somehow ended up taken captive by a sketchy group after catching them in a criminal act when he wandered too far away from his group.

Simon "Boomer" Chiarelli is a laid-back alpha with a love for things of an incendiary nature - but nothing has ever been as explosive as the connection he feels when he catches the scent of his mate. But why, of all the shifters on the planet, does his mate have to be related to the twins?

Can Team ALPHA stay united when tension breaks out among their own? Between dodging Zeke’s famous knife and Ezra’s penchant for hitting things - while still trying to connect with his new mate - Boomer’s life is about to blow-up in a whole new way.

This is the third book in our top-selling series, but can definitely be listened to as a stand-alone novel. You can expect to find naughty, knotty scenes of steamy passion, along with a lot of potty-mouth language and some violence. No humans were harmed in the writing of this book - unless they kinda deserved it. HEA definitely included, intended for 18+ listeners only. Seriously, would you expect anything less from Susi Hawke and Crista Crown?

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Probably one of my favorites

I really love this story. Poor Boomer is unfortunate to have been discovered mated to Zeke and Ezra's baby brother while still knotted and the twins didn't take it too well. David is probably one of my favorite omegas with his love of food and his sincere desire to be as close as possible to Boomer's family. I think he did a great job sticking up for himself against his brothers and is a great addition to this family of macho alphas and their mates.

BOOM!!

It was absolutely wonderful to hear the Team Alpha back in audio! After Zeke & Ezra’s little brother David get taken while on a camping trip with humans, Team Alpha is called in to save him. Simon “Boomer” is interested in anything explosive, until he catches the scent of his true mate, the twins brother!
This book has a little more dissension among the guys which causes some heated arguments. David also a couple of times is kind of hard to stomach and I don’t know if he is written that way because of his pregnancy hormones or just as his character but it’s rare and doesn’t effect the story.
One thing that did slightly bother me was the accent that the narrator decided to use for Boomer and all of his family. This story takes place in Chicago and all cues from the authors state that his family is from there, but he gives Boomer’s family a New York/New Jersey Italian accent I grew up in Chicago and have never heard someone there speak as the narrator did. I understand that he wanted to bring in the Italian heritage feel to the voice, but I think it was too much.
All in all though, this is a great listen and a wonderful continuation of Team Alpha!

Love David!!

Little brothers are great but not when they're the fated mate of your friend and coworker. I laughed so much in this book. Poor Boomer got picked on, a lot! Love this series!

Exceptional narration for a thrilling mates story!

Exceptional narration for a thrilling fated-mates tale!

This is the first book I’ve read in the Team A.L.P.H.A. Series and it can definitely be read as a standalone, but now want to go back and read the others in the series as the whole team seems great and I’d like to know their stories too. All the characters in this book were great and the unfortunate interruption to Boomer and David’s mating (knotting) was hilarious! The writing is witty, humorous and thrilling. While a rather short tale it is still a detailed adventure to stop the ‘bad guys’. While I liked David’s twin brothers, I didn’t really understand their continued animosity to Boomer and David’s mating but it did make for extra entertainment and a lot of potty-mouthed sass! I look forward to seeing them find their mates and see what happens!

I loved Boomer and David together and the family they made together. Speaking of families I loved Boomer’s ‘lazy’ sisters and lovable mum. They made great secondary characters and added so much fun and laughter to the story!

Now the narration on this was exceptional!! I have my preferred narrating style and my favorite narrators but Colin Darcy blew me away!!! He had different dialects for each character and while these were subtle differences it was so easy to tell them apart. With the two main characters, I often had check that it really was only narrated by one person, his accents for both David and Boomer were so different and in my mind matched perfectly with the characters. His voices for all the women were also done really well and not overdone or annoying in the voice tones. I loved this narration and will differently be looking for more audiobooks narrated by Colin!!!

Thanks for reading!

A sweet mpreg story

This is the first of the A.L.P.H.A. series I have listened to. It was pretty good.

David, two of the team's little brother, is kidnapped by an anti-shifter group. The team gathers for a rescue mission as soon as possible.

Boomer, the team's explosives expert, is on the scene, and must be wary of the location of the wolfsbane before detonating his bombs. As soon as he and David lay eyes on each other, they feel the mate bond take affect.

Of course, things can't be that simple, because David is already starting to go into heat. Boomer has David as the group separates, and they find shelter. Boomer intends to ask his teammates for their blessings, but the pheromones are too strong, and the best intentions fly away. When the group comes looking for the two, they find them in a very intimate situation, one that will take some time to end.

The brothers are not happy, but the MCs are, and soon David is welcomed into Boomer's family when the team is sent out to tackle the problem of this new foe. It is not until David's mother calls that he realizes his brothers have already talked to his parents, and that they are flying in on the weekend.

Despite David's fears, the baby is born, and Boomer steps up and proves that he is also the baby's father. Peace is found, and life is good.

Overall, the book has all the best hallmarks of an mpreg story; fated mates, heats, natural slick, and knotting. A lot of stories leave out one or more of these aspects, and they just don't feel the same, IMO. This was a good story for a shorter listen.

The narrator did a decent job. He differentiated the characters fairly well, and his accents were okay. I would not have a problem listening to another book narrated by him in the future.

I received a free copy of this audiobook.

Tensions are high within the team

Boomer and David are so much fun. They are funny but incredibly sweet. I love their connection and the love that they have for each other. It is so unfortunate that this has caused tensions between David’s brothers and his new mate. The two of them have good chemistry and even with how quickly everything happened they grow closer and have so much support from as many corners that it’s complete chaos. It was fun getting to know each of them and the ways in which they interact. The narrator did an amazing job with this story and the characters in it.

Good story, but also somewhat frustrating

Simon "Boomer" Chiarelli and David Dempsey are too cute together. I really like the way they grow together, despite the whole fated mate thing. But before I get into the story itself, I have to address the performance because I found it to be quite disconcerting. The surname Chiarelli is Italian, as David mentions. And since that's the case, WHY does the narrator have Boomer sounding like an African American man? The tone and accent of Boomer's character are not that of a white person, and yes, I can hear the differences. It kept knocking me off balance, especially as it's clear that the narrator has the ability to switch accents and tones as he does for the other characters, including females. That mistake spoils the performance for me...why make one of the MCs sound different from what his surname suggests he is? Unless Boomer and his family are interracial?

As to the story, I'll begin with the things I don't like...or rather the characters. And they would be Zeke and Ezra, David's older twin brothers. A worse set of rude and aggressive jerks (and I really have a far worse name in mind for them!) I have yet to meet. They're supposed to be among the good guys, but the way they treat, or rather MIStreat, Boomer, Zeke even more so than Ezra, is deplorable and inexcusable. That whole big brother posturing is ridiculous and leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I find myself disliking them quite a bit, which detracts from my enjoyment of the story. And quite frankly, if they're to be given stories of their own, I'm not interested in reading them. Neither of them deserves any kind of happiness after the mess they try to make of their little brother's life, and the quite unfriendly acts they perpetrate against their supposed friend. They can go to H--E-2-hockey sticks for all I care!

David and Boomer are a lovely pair and though they ARE fated mates, it's nice to see them wanting to be more, and working to make a relationship based on more than hormones. Their families are also quite colorful, which makes for some funny scenes. I also like that though this is a novel of romantic suspense, the romance was not overshadowed by the suspense. In fact, for a change, the writers made the suspense the part that was left sort of hanging in the air, while completing the romance to our satisfaction. I appreciate that a lot.
