Publisher's summary

The last thing Amalie Holmes expected to do was to be hit by lightning - on purpose.

Inheriting a cottage in Pine Lake was supposed to be the escape from her stressful life as a social worker. Instead, she's taking witch lessons from her crazy, lightning-wielding grandmother, juggling guardianship of a sassy pre-teen, and taking over a pet shop, all while trying to get used to her super-loud, super-new family. Too bad she can't clone herself.

Maybe there's a spell for that?

When the head of the local Witch Council is found dead, and Amalie's Grandma Vivian is named the prime suspect, Amalie's new-found family is in jeopardy. At the risk of losing everything she had just gained, Amalie takes it on herself to clear Vivian's name and find the real killer - if the real killer doesn't find her first.

Great story but author needs a grammar and usage l

I am truly enjoying this series, especially the narrator! However, it is very jarring every time there is a misuse of the objective case!!
Please learn that "She drove Taylin and I to the main house" is incorrect! "She drove me" and "She drove Taylin" should become "She drove Taylin and ME" !!!! Stop the hypercorrect usage! I am sorry, but it comes up often.
Somebody please alert the author to this. It is an easy fix. Just a plea from an old English teacher.

It’s a bit repetitive

Overall I love the story but it repeats stuff the reader already knows as if it was be information and some especially with the fish tank information

Forgetful editor?

There seem to be some discrepancies from the first book, like Taylen not having met the librarian, Cara and Gracia in the last book. and just some repetitive passages, such as when in the bar naming the waitress twice... not a bad story though for free.

Fun But a Bit Tough to Get Through Some Sections

I enjoyed the story line and the narration is very good. However about a third of the book was more like a guide to aquariums and fish. It’s clear the authors interest in fish was very central to many chapters. The other thing that set me back a bit was that it seemed the author forgot some of the specifics and brought them back into the story like they were new. That said, I enjoyed the listen overall.

Exploration of various magic abilities.

I liked the story and characters, but too many of them are into eye rolling - a facial expression that indicates contempt and hopeless relationships. Ageism is not amusing.

Very poorly written

Far from well written. Wish I had not purchased it. Child like story with no redeeming value

Incongruent and boring!

In the book, "Summits and Spells", the author forgot many of the details from book one of this series. This made the story line inconsistent and frustrating. It is also SO boring I can't seem to finish it!

Terrible series, don't buy!

The first book was pretty bad, grammatical errors, awkward writing, but the underlying idea of the books was intriguing. I figured the first book was a result of an amateur writer without much editing, and thought the series must get better. NO! If anything it got worse. I finally gave up when the main character and the girl she adopted have company over - the woman's long lost sisters and the town librarian. In the first book the girl met and spent time with all of these characters - was even babysat by the librarian and checked books out from her! But in the second book they set it up as a first time meeting, as if she's never met any of those people before. Come on! Can't the author remember her own books??? Then there are the grammatical errors, which are bad, plus I found myself listening, and the characters would be somewhere, then all of a sudden they'd be somewhere new doing something else and I had to rewind to figure out what happened. And the awkward moments, oh man.... the main character does things and has these reactions to things that are so awkward, and it's not in a funny way - it's just BAD writing. Stay away, this series is NOT worth it.
