A fun story

I really liked this. Fun, short, and fast paced story. Who doesn’t like talking cats?

Pretty Good Story

I loved it. I was entertained throughout the book. I will definitely get more of these. This was my first book by Kennedy Layne. She has done a great job creating a great story line and lovable characters.

The narrator, Hollie Jackson, does a fantastic job with the voices.

A Magical Inheritance, Great Start to New Series

Raven Marigold, down on her luck city dweller, comes to a small town in Connecticut to receive her inheritance from her estranged and now deceased maternal grandmother. A mystery begins soon after Raven and her friend Heidi arrive at the newly acquired tea shop to discover a body in the back room. Raven soon finds out she has not only inherited a shop but a lineage of witchcraft and before long the listener dives headlong into a new magical world with much to uncover. I really enjoyed listening to Magical Blend and feel it offers a promising start to a new paranormal cozy series. Nothing mind blowing for anyone familiar with the genre but a fun cast of characters with a rich history that Raven only begins to explore. The pacing was great, the story easy to get through, and the mystery and magic engaging throughout. The narration was pretty good, Hollie seemed to keep losing the accent she was doing for Heidi and her male voices left something to be desired but it didn’t take away from the story. I love the concept of the shop and the chance in future volumes to see Raven learn how to do magic and hopefully learn more about her family history. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys the paranormal mystery genre, there is even a funny magical cat for audiences to enjoy.

Love this book!

This was an easy book series to get into for fall, and I love Hollie Jackson - she makes differentiating all the characters easy to follow in audio form.

Good story line

The reader was a bit rushed. She should slow down. It made it hard to hear what was happening in the story and had to rewind to get the gist of some scenes. Thank goodness was for modern technology!

Cute characters but some how the story is lacking. There is potential for better. I will try next in series.

Just Mediocre

The story didn’t have much to it. A few times Ms Layne rambled on with unnecessary descriptive babble but mostly it was at least well written. The characters were hard to tolerate due to the annoying voices given to them. And of course there always has to be the cute Sherriff that we all know she will end up with.

The narrator actually has a pleasant voice when she is speaking for (Raven?) I forgot her name already. Ted sounds absolutely horrid. The sheriff isn’t much better. And all the women in the story have this afflicted mechanical sounding speech. None of it sounds natural. And WHY is every cat in a witch mystery obnoxious, rude and self centered with a drawn out pompous voice?

The mystery itself was vague and rather bland. Not much sleuthing going in. Just Raven taking stabs in the dark based on totally insignificant cues. Her discovering she is a witch and trying to get the hang of running her grandmothers tea shop was cute. I’m glad I didn’t spend any real money on this book. It will be my last in the series.

Cute story

It was a good listen, all in one day. Just one of the characters voices was not appealing. Otherwise, I enjoyed the story.
