Publisher's summary

When former Navy Seal and lifelong bachelor Ranger Kingston is called upon to take part in a rescue mission to save his brother, Colt, who has been kidnapped by terrorists in Nigeria, he is shocked to find among the hostages a woman he knows and could never forget.

Noemi Sutton was attempting to return a young girl to her family in Boko Haran territory when she and the girl found themselves taken hostage, along with several others.

And while Ranger Kingston may be able to get the hostages away from their captors, he'll need Noemi's help if he ever hopes to get out of Nigeria alive.

Her solution? Pose as husband and wife. But when her uncle discovers the union, he insists on a traditional Nigerian wedding—binding Noemi to a man destined to break her heart. Worse, she's discovered the real reason she was kidnapped, and anyone around her is bound to be caught in the cross fire. Including her so-called new husband.

She'll need to figure out a way to leave the man she loves if she wants to save his life.

USA Today best-selling author Susan May Warren throws you into the thick of the action in this high-stakes, globe-trotting romance.

Very colorful characters

I especially liked the way the author weaved Biblical truths into the story. Great character development. Loved the details about Nigerian cuisine and culture.

Great story

Enjoyed this suspense story that leads to a crisis of faith. The continuation of the King brothers’ story is enlightening as we get another part of the picture. The questions we ask in our own lives are reflected in the characters and circumstances. Even if we are not kidnapped, held hostage and hunted down in our real lives, this book has you reflecting on your own story and seeing where God shows up. Looking forward to book 3.

I love good clean literature

This was a good story that set you up nicely for the next one. Had I been reading these as they were released, this would have frustrated me; but as all three are available, it was fine. I enjoyed the adventure and love story, but I am not fond of preachy material. I felt at times this story sought to indoctrinate me with the author's view of God and that dulled it's sparkle. This seems to happen only once or twice in these books, so I just keep an ear out for it and fast forward. It was a compelling story, and I will finish it. Considering everything is was a good story that I enjoyed. But I don't think it makes my favorites list.

I really enjoyed the reader. She really added to the story.

Heart-stopping romance-laced Adventure

SUNBURST takes broken heroes, sets them on a collision course and doesn’t stop until they discover Blindness isn’t just a condition of the eyes, but also of the heart and being seen can bring freedom. Read by an excellent narrator who brings both words and emotions to life. The descriptions of Nigerian life and customs are also exquisite.

Susan May Warren’s best work!!

I loved this book! Susan completely deviated from her standard settings (Alaska/Minnesota) and even from her standard writing style to give a fabulously written book about another culture, with a sense of humour that was much more apparent in her characters than her other books, and, if I may say so, left behind her constant insistence that each main male character has this great desire to be a “hero”. Frankly I get tired of that in her books. I know many wonderful men who don’t have a hero complex. They just want to do what’s right and have the people in their lives respect and love them. I loved both characters. Not always does an author make both lead characters lovable, as well as capturing the essence of the supporting characters like she did with Noemi’s Nigerian family. I also credit this hugely to the narrator. Cynthia Farrel sometimes makes the characters come across as a little sappy or desperate, (not entirely her fault if a book is written that way) but the accent and inflection she placed on the Nigerian family made them seem so humorous, and loving, and lovable! I enjoy SMW books, but would love them more if she displayed this kind of writing in more of her books! And it’s fine and good to have things to overcome such as difficult pasts, but in this book, the characters’ “devastating horrors of their pasts” didn’t infuse every paragraph, conversation, and thought pattern in the book. Well WELL DONE!!!!
My only complaint about the actual sequence of book 1 into book 2 was that this enormous rift that was so prevalent in the brothers in book 1 all but disappeared without an explanation in book 2. I’m glad they get along now, lol, just wondered where the “fight” went😄

The action stood out to me with this series

I enjoyed the action and the intermingling of some characters from other series. I love the Alaskan country side that Susan May Warren has created. These books are fun and exciting to read.

So good!!

Just like the first book in this series, this second one is so good! I didn’t want it to end and cannot wait for the third book in the series to be released! Narration was great as well!
