About this listen

AudioLearn's Medical School Crash Courses presents Surgery.

Written by experts and authorities in the field and professionally narrated for easy listening, this crash course is a valuable tool both during school and when preparing for the USMLE, or if you're simply interested in the subject.

The audio is focused and high-yield, covering the most important topics you might expect to learn in a typical medical school surgery course. Included are both capsule and detailed explanations of critical issues and topics you must know to master the course.

The material is accurate, up to date, and broken down into bite-sized sections. There is a "Q&A" and a "key takeaways" section following each topic to review questions commonly tested and drive home key points.

Also included is a comprehensive test containing the top 100 most commonly tested questions in surgery with the correct answers.

In this course, we'll cover the following topics:

  • Basic surgical principles
  • Perioperative management
  • Trauma and critical care surgery
  • Transplantation and immunology
  • Surgical oncology
  • Head and neck surgery
  • Breast surgery
  • Endocrine surgery
  • Esophagus surgery
  • Abdomen surgery
  • Chest surgery
  • Vascular surgery

AudioLearn's Medical School Crash Courses support your studies, help with USMLE preparation, and provide a comprehensive audio review of the topic matter for anyone interested in what medical students are taught in a typical medical school course.

Narrator is awful and obviously non Medical as many words are pronounced wrong. Some of the surgical techniques may be helpful to a classroom student who hasn’t even learned how to scrub in yet, but if you’re on surgery rotation don’t waste your time here.

I wouldn’t call it bad, but definitely not good

I don't think the narrator is in medicine. She is monotone and does not pronounce the terminology well. She's not lecturing or teaching a subject, but she's rather reading a string of words that make no sense to her. Difficult to follow, especially for a difficult subject.

I recommend the Great Courses: Medical School for Everyone instead. I'm going to try to get a refund for this purchase.

Bad narrator: don't hire a layperson for education

As a graduate of medicine, I took a listen through this book to review my surgical knowledge. I often questioned their choice of material to present. I dont belive surgery can be explained (especially if you're actually studying for medical or surgical boards) with this book. The questions weren't at all eye opening either. However, if you enjoy a reject version of "Siri" talking about random surgical facts, this book may be for you.

Not sure who this book is written for.
