necessary

I needed it for boards. I listen while I drive or do laundry. It helps a lot.

Meh

I am not a physician but i would imagine on boards the questions are more difficult then what is presented in this book. It is a nice review but many of the questions are 1st order questions and not vignettes. Management is not really jumped into or dosing on meds etc. I don't think this would go as in depth as required for medical school and i wouldn't use this as a only resource. It is a good supplemental to keep freshness in certain diseases. The voice is very monotone and there are no cases to learn from. I wish they had chapters labeled on audible not just chapter 7 etc. It's ok but that is about it.

No table of contents

Imagine you want to listen specifically about renal issues. Welp, too bad because this book is broken into chapters that are unlabeled so you literally don't know where to go.

Great for ER too!

I am a new nurse and working in the emergency department. I really enjoyed this book. It has helped me to better understand why my department does some of the diagnostic tests it does, improved my reports—and helped me to understand more of the worst case scenarios. I did not appreciate this book while I was in school—but I would recommend it to anyone who is new to the emergency department or anyone interested in expanding their knowledge of acute care.

There is no story

Over all this book accomplishes what it was set to do to teach critical care and emergency setting. The testings at the end of each chapter is very beneficial to know where review is needed. The dialog is well articulated and the speaker has great knowledge of the subject. I would recommend this book for anyone needing review and extra learning on the subject of critical care in the emergency setting.

Booorrrring

It’s hard to imagine a more leaded, boring presentation. Having just completed 3 engaging books by Dr Benerach, this one falls flat. I sampled sections of Chapters 1 and 12, and both were awful.

Sending it back.
