Story
Acclaimed inspirational author W. Dale Cramer pens the tale of an Amish prodigal's struggle for faith and forgiveness. As Will returns to bury his dad, his mind flashes back 42 years to when he fled his Amish heritage, abandoning his unborn child's mother and inflicting pain only a parent can fathom. Now he understands that pain. And he thinks of all those years of silence, all those words never spoken. But as his father lies cold and still, is all hope for healing gone?

Story
It begins on the shaded town square in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year-old has a brisk business at her lemonade stand. But the little girl’s pretty yellow dress can’t quite hide the ugly scar on her chest. Her latest customer, a bearded stranger, drains his cup and heads to his car, his mind on a boat he's restoring at a nearby lake. The stranger understands more about the scar than he wants to admit. And the beat-up bread truck careening around the corner with its radio blaring is about to change the trajectory of both their lives.

Story
Why exactly Charley Bordelon's late father left her eight hundred sprawling acres of sugarcane land in rural Louisiana is as mysterious as it was generous. Recognizing this as a chance to start over, Charley and her 11-year-old daughter, Micah, say good-bye to Los Angeles. They arrive just in time for growing season but no amount of planning can prepare Charley for a Louisiana that's mired in the past: as her judgmental but big-hearted grandmother tells her, cane farming is always going to be a white man's business.

Dark-haired and enigmatic, they live quietly in the hills and valleys of Cloud County, their origins lost to history. Wonderful Book - WRONG NARRATOR LISTED
I got this book fhrough the Plus Catalog. The narrator was John McDonough, one of my favorite narrators, I liked it so much that I decided to purchase it. However, when I received it, the narrator was listed as Francisco Rivela. When I tried to exchange it, I was told that they did not have the one narrated by John McDonough, so I got a refund.
After some thought, I decided to listen to the sample narrated by Francisco Rivela, only to find that it was actually narrated by John McDonough. I looked up Francisco Rivela and found that the books he narrates for Audible are in Spanish. "Sutter's Cross" has not been translated into Spanish. So, I repurchased the book.
I highly recommend this wonderful book and its excellent narrator.

Confronting the Past
When a homeless man shows up in town with a broken jaw, the town is bewildered about where he came from. Each encounter with Harley presents the person with a choice. Will they love him or shun him. Surprisingly some whom you would think would embrace him, do not. And others find a true friend in Harley. The little town of Sutter's Cross is a mixture of all kinds of folks, and meeting them was such a pleasure. As the story unfolds, I found myself examining my own prejudices. As the lives of all the residents of Sutter's Cross intersect, it forces the townsfolk to take a side. The culmination of this book will hit you full force. Don't miss it.
