About this listen

Champion kickboxer Haley swore she'd never set foot in the ring again after one tragic night. But that all changes when the guy she can't stop thinking about accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. West Young is everything Haley promised herself she'd stay away from: handsome, sexy, and full of attitude.

West is keeping a big secret from Haley. He hasn't told her who he really is, and helping her - fighting for her - is a shot at redemption, especially since his family is falling apart and it's all his fault. He can't change the past, but maybe he can change Haley's future.

Take Me On

3.5 stars

I wish I would have started this book right after book 3. Looking back at my review, it seems I was excited to read about West. That was almost 4 years ago so I’m a little sad that I don’t remember how much I liked this kid. At first I found myself annoyed with him. His decision making was crap but was kind of on par for a teenager. His arrogance was a bit baffling in regards to fighting and his pride is infuriating as well. I loved Haley. Her life just seemed so tough but she made sure to continue to do whatever it took to make things work for her. I kept wishing she would open up about her past and stop protecting those who didn't deserve her loyalty.

This story had a lot. I loved the training throughout and the weird friendship w/ Abby. There was a bit of a twist that had me thinking wow but worked out well. Overall a good story that I wish I would have gotten to sooner.

Excellent!

Another win by Katie McGarry! I love this author. She never disappoints. I fell in love with this story. I've wanted to hear West's story from the start. I soaked up every second of it! Hope to hear more from these characters!

I like

Just like every other book that Katie McGarry has written I feel in love... for a short period.

It's teeny but the teens are dealing with some real ish and it can be quite heartbreaking. If you like an easy quick read with lots of dialogue, overcoming, and coming of age (into adulthood) then you will love this book.

It's not something I stewed on for days but its a great ride while it last.

Bring them on Katie!

Not My Favorite, but not bad either...

I liked this one but not as much as the rest. I felt like West grew a lot but I didn't connect with Haley at all. I did like hearing from Rachel and Abby. I hope she gets a story. I even wouldn't mind hearing from Haley's cousin or brother in the future.

This is probably the best book in the series.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book, I liked that there was a strong female character, I also thought that her situation was well portrayed.

Not my favourite.

By far McGarry's weakest work. The male narrator was good as West, but his other characters were not. They were pretty terrible.
