About this listen

A new life complete with tea, scones, and…murder?

And let’s not forget the ghost....

When your fiancé breaks up with you on your 49th birthday, what do you do? If you’re April May, you buy a huge Victorian home on a whim and open a tearoom featuring lace tablecloths, exotic teas, and dainty sandwiches.

No one told her the house came with a cat in the attic who might just be guarding a treasure. How else to explain people breaking in?

From the moment she moves in, nothing goes right, but her problems seem minor when a dead body turns up in her home. Accused of murder, April teams up with a cantankerous bar owner and a feisty, young antiques expert to solve the crime.

And what about the handsome, arrogant chef in her kitchen who no one else can see? She plans to get medical help for what must be a hallucination, but in the meantime, he’s putting a tasty French twist on her menu.

If you’ve ever wished someone would remake The Ghost and Mrs. Muir as a culinary murder mystery, this book is for you!

New Town, New Tea Room, Fun cozy mystery

Great new cozy mystery! The characters are likable and interesting. The mystery kept me guessing. April May’s car gets two flat tires so she decides to get a room at the B&B. While walking around town, she sees an old Victorian home for sale. She has always wanted to have a tearoom and her life is in limbo so she buys it. Someone ends up dead at her house and she is a suspect. The pace is good and there is enough going on to keep the book interesting. The narrator did a great job! I received the audiobook from Karen Sue Walker for an honest review. #TeaIsForTrouble

The narrator's French accent was great, although sometimes difficult to understand.

The murder mystery took second place to the inner doubts of the main character. after a few chapters that became tedious. The information about how to brew various types of tea was fascinating and sent me researching info on how to brew my favorite types of tea.

Good twist ending

This was an entertaining book. I am looking forward to the next one and hoping to get more background on some of the characters.

Entertaining Cozy Mystery

Was gifted this book by my tea buddy and found it thoroughly enjoyable. Liked the characters so far and at the end, there was a twist I didn’t see coming. Great cozy mystery to listen to while doing needlework with a cup of tea!

Cozy Mystery

This is a new to me author. I like cozy mysteries so I was happy to have the opportunity to listen to the audio book of this story. I had partially figured out whodunit but there was a twist I wasn't expecting. Looking back I can see the signs but I made assumptions that kept me from figuring it all out before the reveal. I thought the narrator did a pretty good job, though perhaps not perfect. I really liked her male voices.

I loved the ghost. He was pretty cute. I'd like to know more about him and why he is haunting that building so I would hope future books give more info.

I found that the story gave more info about tea than I ever cared to know. It almost felt like the author did a lot of research and wanted to include everything she learned but I didn't think it added to the story. There was a lot of tea drinking. April must have had to pee a lot. Ha ha.

I would like to read or listen to the rest of the series. There seems like there could be a romance brewing in the future but that didn't develop in this book. Will it happen in the rest of the series?

No sex or language
Mild violence, threatening situations, an off page murder
