Publisher's summary

A genre-bending epic horror-fantasy, inspired by the legend of Faust, that spans generations as an ancient evil is uncovered - perfect for fans of Kendare Blake and Ransom Riggs.

Before the birth of time, a monk uncovers the Devil's Tongue and dares to speak it. The repercussions will be felt for generations....

Sixteen-year-old photography enthusiast Zoey has been fascinated by the haunted, burnt-out ruins of Medwyn Mill House for as long as she can remember - so she and her best friend, Poulton, run away from home to explore them. But are they really alone in the house? And who will know if something goes wrong?

In 1851, 17-year-old Roan arrives at the Mill House as a ward - one of three, all with something to hide from their new guardian. When Roan learns that she is connected to an ancient secret, she must escape the house before she is trapped forever.

1583. Hermione, a new young bride, accompanies her husband to the wilds of North Wales where he plans to build the largest water mill and mansion in the area. But rumors of unholy rituals lead to a tragic occurrence and she will need all her strength to defeat it.

Three women, centuries apart, drawn together by one Unholy Pact. A pact made by a man who, more than a thousand years later, may still be watching....

This haunting and captivating mystery redefines the horror and fantasy space.

Critic reviews

"Kurtagich's writing is evocative and fearless. Teeth in the Mist abounds with atmosphere, mystery, and horror and gleefully plays with the Faust legend in ways both modern and classically Gothic." (Cat Winters, author of In the Shadow of Blackbirds and The Raven's Tale)

"In Teeth in the Mist, Dawn Kurtagich weaves genres, time periods and sets of characters with deft fingers. Connecting all is the mysterious Mill House. Readers will be fascinated, perplexed, often freaked out, and always wanting to turn the next page." (Juliet Marillier, author of the Blackthorn & Grim series)

"Kurtagich delivers a creepy, atmospheric tale of subjugation, female self-empowerment, and redemption." (Publishers Weekly)

performance- THEY GET AL THE STARS!! *************

4.5 stars

OMG!! THIS AUDIO BOOK! forget yesterday, you needed this audio book last month! The cast of narrators is so freaking amazing. they REALLY get into reading this phenomenal story. the added sound effects and ambient noises is like sprinkles on top of the best birthday cake ever.
there is multiple stories going on at once, the story of Roan and Zoey mostly. they are tied together by Mill House. There is some other characters but they are the 2 main story lines. Between the narrators and what they were reading, this was an intense, nail biting experience. i love what Dawn did with the legend of Faust. The only reason i did not give this 5 stars was i thought it could've been a little shorter but really guys, you need to listen to this audio book. it's my #2 favorite audio book at this moment and i listen to a lot of them.

Holy crow!!

I have the hardback and love the pictures and style of Dawn per usual. BUT, my good reads group recommended listening to the audible version. Needless to say, I was blown away by the creep factor!! Whispers, demon voices, sound effects, not to mention the great narrators!

I definitely recommend this listen!!

Unique and Interesting

This book was enjoyable. It was a bit confusing at first as it jumps from character to character without much explanation, but that comes with time. It puts everything together near the end and I found myself wanting a sequel.

THERE IS BACKGROUND MUSIC

I haven’t finished it and I don’t know if I’ll be able to because.. there is music. The reading is dramatic enough. This is the worst.
I had to rate the story to leave the review so I gave it a 4 because I don’t want to throw anything off, but again, I may never be able to know whether or not the story is decent.

Good narration, anemic plot and pacing

It was too long without much of a payoff in the end. I kept listening hoping it would be worth it in the end... but it just wasn't.

Excellent narration

Dawn Kurtagich has the best audiobook performances of her stories. The multiple narrators, sound effects, and eerie music make for a very enjoyable experience. Unfortunately the story just wasn’t my cup of tea.

It could have been excellently scary. The bones were there, but the evil became mundane. Too many drawn out confrontations. Also, I couldn’t stand Zoe. Her character was selfish and dull.
