Publisher's summary

A stunning, terrifying novel about a house the color of blood and the two sisters who are trapped there, by The Dead House author Dawn Kurtagich

When Silla and Nori arrive at their aunt's home, it's immediately clear that the "blood manor" is cursed. The creaking of the house and the stillness of the woods surrounding them would be enough of a sign, but there are secrets, too - the questions that Silla can't ignore: Who is the beautiful boy who's appeared from the woods? Who is the man her little sister sees, but no one else? And why does it seem that ever since they arrived, the trees have been creeping closer?

Filled with just as many twists and turns as The Dead House, and with achingly beautiful, chilling language that delivers haunting scenes, And the Trees Crept In is the perfect follow-up novel for master horror writer Dawn Kurtagich.

Chillingly delightful

Not usually a scary/horror book fan but the cover & audio snippet convinced me otherwise! Takes a little to get into the flow of the story, but the narrator does a great job & it really makes it much better than if I had read it myself!

Great narration!

Narrater was wonderful, story was OK, reminded of We Have Always Lived in the Castle. It was a cozy listen but I wasn't enthralled. It was a very strange concept and the ending seemed a bit rushed.

Almost DNF'D but...

Almost 100 pages into this book, I was going to give up on it. Then it took off and became delightfully creepy! Very glad I listened to the audio version!

Just WOW!!!

I was on the fence about this book until I read the reviews. This was one of the best books I have listened to in a long time. It is now one of my favorite books. Everything about it was perfect. I love to be surprised by a book and this was grand! I knew, but I didn't know........... Bravo Dawn Kurtagich and Polly Lee.

It dragged on a bit.

I didn’t really like how the story dragged on. I think it could have been done 2 hours shorter. Still a good ending despite the predictability.

BEST AUDIO BOOKS EVER!

OMG. Dawn Kurtagich gets the award for BEST AUDIO BOOKS EVER!! and Polly Lee, the narrator gets an award too! For an outstanding performance. This is going on my best of 2019 shelf.
ok, so the story is about Silla and her sister Nori. They escape a bad situation and arrive at their Aunt home. It's strange and Aunt Cathy (Cath) is starting to act a little weird. The whole story takes place at the house. There's a few scenes away from it but not many. I loved it! The house and the surrounding woods are creepy AF and a great setting.
I loved this book so much. Silla was very relatable. i'm the big sis too and i'm protective of my little sister, no matter how old we are. The story was SO GOOD. i had an idea early on about what was going on and i was right, kinda. The emotions that Polly Lee (narrator) conveys is just so amazing. It gets so intense in spots. I will definitely read or listen to more by Dawn Kurtagich. She's now on my favorites list. I will also listen to more of Polly Lee's narrations.

Wonderfully creepy

What did you love best about And the Trees Crept In?

The story is perfectly creepy, and the additional sound effects make it even more so. The story has so many twists and turns and unanswered questions along the way that it really keeps you invested in what is happening. Everything is answered by the end, but it really keeps you on the edge of your seat.

What does Polly Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She did a wonderful job narrating the story. Many times her voice and cadence really made the words unnerving in a way I probably would not have achieved just reading the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! It sucked me right in and kept me guessing with every new event. It was so hard to turn off or pause!

Loved it!

Not going to spoil anything... but I absolutely loved this book. The story is great and creepy enough alone... but the audiobook gave me shivers. By far my favorite book from this author!

good

the narrator's voice is interesting I got stuck with accent, some kind of english accent that sounded a little Irish. anyways it's a good story that a first read as an actual book and now an audio book. I find that "reading" it again I noticed things that mean more than what they appear.
