About this listen

Jace Sloan has it all. He's smoking hot, a college football star with a storybook family, and he's never met a woman he couldn't charm. He's also never met one who makes him want to be a better man...until he meets Maggie. Now this self-proclaimed geek with wild red hair and the greenest eyes he's ever seen has him thinking all kinds of crazy thoughts. Like settling down and being a one-woman man.

Maggie Fielding is anything but Jace's type. For starters, her IQ is bigger than her chest size. But Jace is panty-melting hot, and she's having a hard time remembering that he's bad news. If only she could stop telling him her secrets, because her answers to his questions just might have both of them falling in love for the first time.

Hmmm I don't know....

Hmmm I don't know where to start! I think this situation has more to do with the narration then the story! ALTHOUGH the story could use a lot less skipping forward! For Example 1 minute they are having dinner, then the next she's having a major crisis(I don't want to do a spoiler)with no details of what happened after dinner! things like that! As far as the narration you can't tell the difference between guys & girls or a thought & what's happening! no change in a voice at all really! I think I need to TRY READING THE BOOK & see if that changes my opinion!

****SPOILER ALERT**** I TRY NOT TO GIVE SPOILERS BUT IF I GIVE A NOT SO GREAT REVIEW I REALLY WANT PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND WHY I DID!!

HECK IT WENT FROM A PROPOSAL TO 2 AND A HALF YEARS LATER!! WHO DON'T LOVE WEDDINGS & WANT TO HEAR THE DETAILS?? ALSO CHRISTMAS DAY WE ONLY HEAR ABOUT SEX & NOTHING ABOUT "FAMILY" WHICH IS SO IMPORTANT TO HER!! SHE WAS SUPPOSE TO MEET LONG LOST FAMILY 2 DAYS AFTER CHRISTMAS & WE HEAR NOTHING ABOUT THE REUNION!! IN FACT THE ONLY 2 PEOPLE WE HEAR ABOUT NOW ARE JACE & MAGGIE!! NOTHING MORE ABOUT HIS PARENTS(which they both Love)NOTHING MORE ABOUT SARAH(who was Maggie's BEST FRIEND SINCE BIRTH & HER ROOM MATE AT COLLEGE NOT EVEN GOODBYE FROM THE COLLEGE DORM!! NOTHING ABOUT SAM OR NOTHING MORE ABOUT HER DANCE PARTNER OR EVEN DANCING!! ITS LIKE IT WENT FROM BEING AN OK STORY TO ALL ABOUT SEX & WHEN, WHERE & HOW THEY DID IT!!

OMG

Well, that's almost all I can say about it. I never believe reviews because they are so subjective so I'll give facts. 1. Main character is down to earth and smart. I really appreciate it when authors make the main character a real woman and not a Barbie doll. 2. Real life happens and life moves on. The story does include real life situations and how people deal with them and learn. 3. Narrator did an excellent job. I found no fault with her except in parts I did speed to 1.25. Overall, I don't believe I had laugh out loud moments but think that I would recommend to a friend for the weight and beauty of the story.

This book is a journey of mixed emotions

I really do not know how I honestly feel about this book. It is certainly not a run of the mill romance novel. This is the first time I have read a book by this author. I believe she has vision and talent.

The story begins with college heart throb Jace being tutored by the brainiac red head Maggie. True to all romance novels they have their ups and downs. Maggie see's something in Jace that attracts her despite his man whore ways. They fall in love and their journey begins.

I will not give spoilers but their journey is over years. In the end I have to say I am not a fan of Jace. I believe him to be weak. I am however on team Maggie. She has a spirit inside of her that I admire. She is strong, realistic and is not afraid to Google to find out whatever information she needs to learn something new.

I think the story is too drawn out at times. I believe better editing could of prevented this hence the four stars. The performance of the narrator was very good. Perhaps even the reason I did not skip ahead during some parts of the story.

The story line sucks you in. It is realistic. One cannot help but be drawn to Maggie. I really tried to feel for Jace, but could not. I would be interested to see other reviews in regard to him.

This book is credit or sale worthy, in my humble opinion.

Heartwarming

What did you love best about Tell Me a Secret?

The title is perfect for this book because secrets are a big part of this book! Especially in Part 2. The secrets were the best part of the book:)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Of course, Maggie! What a heart of gold she has. She is so loyal and never gave up on Jace.

Have you listened to any of Sarah Pavelec’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have listened to Sarah's narrations. She has such a clear and easy to listen to voice. There was a lot of dialogue in this story and Sarah is able to keep each character sounding the same throughout, as always. She brings such emotion to her performance and Tell Me a Secret does not disappoint. I always feel like I know the characters in the book by the end. Sarah read Maggie so perfectly, I felt every emotion Maggie was feeling. The ending to this book was just perfect and Sarah's performance of Maggie at the end had me in tears. Great job as always!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end!!!

Any additional comments?

Tell Me a Secret was predictable as times, but just when you thought you had everything figured out, the author threw in a twist! I loved that!!!

A romance story with a twist!

I was given this audio book in exchange for an honest review. I liked this book. The story was your basic college jock has sex with any girl that looks his way, but then changes when the right girl comes along. Maggie called Jace on his actions numerous times, which I liked. She made him work for the relationship and he really did change his ways at that point. Part One ends with the HEA. Yea! Then there's Part 2, which is quite different. Life really threw some stuff at them to challenge them. I read other reviews that said the second part seemed rushed to them. I didn't have a problem with it. I felt the anguish of both Maggie and Jace and the resolution was handled in an interesting way.
The narration was excellent for the most part.Sarah Pavalec just did one thing that drove me crazy. She would speak for one of the characters, there would be a pause and then a "he said/she said/he asked, etc.. To me the inflection was very odd for the "he said" part. That's probably being really picky, but it drove me nuts. I would recommend this book, though. I really liked it.

Steamy Love Story

I LOVED THIS BOOK! At times I thought it was a bit cheesy but at the same time I couldn't stop listening. What can I say I like cheesy!

I couldn't help falling in love with both characters as they fell in love with each other. Very well written journey of love. When you put in the work and really give yourself to someone you learn to fight for what you want and know you can have.

Narrator was perfect for all the characters. Her voice and tone gave the perfect amount of vulnerability.

Definitely recommend this book to love story lovers.
