About this listen

MX Hub had proven to have challenges that Zander hadn't anticipated.

Accidentally getting tagged by a rogue element, he thwarted corporate espionage at Maverick Mecha Manufacturing. Lavella Hemoesta, the owner of Maverick, met with him to work out a deal so her company wouldn't be given bad press. That meeting changed the future for both Lavella and Zander.

After a few false starts, including a multiple homicide in a hedge maze, the pair finally found time for intimate fun. Zander flipped the script on Lavella, making the Vampire prey instead of the predator, firmly setting their budding relationship in stone. After the whirlwind sex, Zander proposed a crazy idea that set the stage for something unseen by galactic society: a mecha tournament.

During the tournament, Zander led his team to victory using his training as a military contractor. In doing so, he flouted the training left by the Antecedents, but his squad won handily every time. Some of the losing squads took it badly, but none as badly as Smaztil Hammish, the lead pilot of Proud Axe. When the Dwarven pilots lost, they physically attacked Zander's at the end of the tournament.

With the tournament over and a party waiting, the crew stopped only long enough to try collecting their bets. The organized crime group who'd taken the bet refused to pay up. Instead of a bloody confrontation, Zander just forwarded the video evidence to the magistrates and they left the gang behind.

What would come from Zander's flagrant disregard of the Antecedents' training? Would the criminal organization take umbrage at being called out? Only time will tell…

The progresses, we get involved with more characters, old enemies become friend’mies, friends grow closer, the love life expands and we can’t forget the bugs! Really enjoyed how the plot unfolded in this book, we got further down the path than I thought, can’t wait for the next one, please hurry!

Best writer ever

This writer and narrator, one of the best combinations of this genre book itself is a wonderful put together move storyline with no pause and progressive action. The only downside is he hasn’t finished the series so you can continue listening to the entire story.

1/3 Dry 2/3 OK 3/3 great

You can divide this book into thirds. I found the first third of the book somewhat dry and had a hard time drudging through it, the second third picked up the pace a bit and was good, while the final third was great.

Leadership in the raw

For Daniel, I must eat my shoe. The first book had made iffy at best. I bought the second book on sale and you didn’t disappoint. This has got to be one of the best fight sequences of yours I have read since binding word or apocalypse gates, or even Athers Guard. Thank you.

Excellent story and great characters

This series continues to impress. The hardest part of this whole series is the wait between books. I another favorite in my library.

Finally some real bug hunfting

We get to see the crew in action against a real threat and I loved it. You get to see this universe's humans and how they are different. New girls added to the relationship is a positive. I can't wait for the captain the build of and suspense is killing me. My only small complaint about this series is the constant repeating of the same thing from him and the other characters that talk about him. it's kinda in all Shinhofen books but this one lays it on thick.
