About this listen

That Month in Tuscany....

Ren Sawyer and Lizzy Harper live completely different lives. He's a rock star with a secret he can no longer live with. She's a regular person whose husband stood her up for a long-planned anniversary trip.

On a flight across the Atlantic headed for Italy, a drunken pity party and untimely turbulence literally drop Lizzy into Ren's lap. It is the last thing she can imagine ever happening to someone like her. But despite their surface differences, they discover an undeniable pull between them. A pull that leads them both to remember who they had once been before letting themselves be changed by a life they had each chosen.

Exploring the streets of Florence and the hills of Tuscany together - two people with seemingly nothing in common - changes them both forever. And what they find in each other is something that might just heal them both.

From the description and the cover art, I thought this would be a lighthearted romp but it is more of a family drama. And they didn't spend a whole month in Tuscany, more like two weeks. Not enough time to feel as if the sunshine has soaked into your bones or to eat enough gelato gain an inch at the waistline. The story was good, just not what I was expecting.

The cast did very well since I finished the book even though I was disappointed.

while somewhat predictable story line, the subplot with daughter was unexpected. I enjoyed the characters and the descriptions of Italy. Overall enjoyable and entertaining.

Don’t really know how to react to this book. I personally live in Charlottesville and believe that the author is trying to rewrite an ending to some very prominent headlines for our area. I think I would have rather just read a love story, held in Italy, without a ***spoiler alert*** student abduction from UVA thrown in the midst. The book was good, but a lot far fetched. The abduction and lack of interest in telling the ending of the “other girl - Erin” is also a bit short sighted or the fact that the rockstar could have assisted somehow by using his platform in some way. I like a good love story, but not able to give this one 5 stars.

Okay book, but not okay!!!

Story was good although a little far-fetched. A little too much going on to really delve into each piece of the story.

Far-fetched story

I really enjoyed this story. It was romantic but not overboard. Also, I appreciate the clean language. It has a little suspense to it which keeps you connected to the story & keeps your interest. I would highly recommend it.

Nice romance novel

I enjoy books about Tuscany. I don’t like romance books. This one isn’t graphic sex scenes one after another. It is a bit unbelievable. A rock star falling for an older woman on an airplane. So that part gets old. Despite what others have said, I think the Lizzy voice is ok. But Ren the rock star? He sounds like an old time news reporter, like maybe a younger Walter Cronkite. Reporting the news, no less. And when he sings? Dogs would howl. He can’t even carry a tune. I had to fast forward. I don’t know if I’ll finish it. As I said, it’s pretty unbelievable and now that they’re in love (or lust), I’m afraid the sex and sap will only get worse.

A Romance Book But Not Too Sappy

I enjoyed the book, but was expecting more of a romance travel journey. This bridged a suspense element into it of a missing daughter. I like suspense thrillers, too, but I felt this was a blend of two and very short to try to do so in a good way. I feel it tried too hard and couldn’t determine what it wanted to be. It was too weak for me on the narrative to give it high marks. Easy going until daughter missing and then too brief of a ‘thriller component’. Which genre is it? Romance or thriller? If you combine the two, it needs to have more depth and be longer.

Travel novel vs. Suspense novel
