Critic reviews

"Granger has combined the cozy with the procedural for an engrossing look at an English village, one that pulls aside the veil of comfort to reveal the wickedness lurking beneath." (Dallas Morning News)

Quite pleasant and interesting, though perhaps not riveting.
I found the ultimate solution not fully believable in all aspects and we seemed to meander past "the end" for a little while.

Interesting characters

This is another solid effort from Ann Granger. Audible did well to add her to the list of authors.

Looking forward to listening to the rest of her titles - the reader is also a delight.

Compelling Murder Mystery

This is a pleasant enough English mystery, well-narrated, and easy to listen to. The story is quite predictable, but it is easy to follow and quite like a summer-read. I'd give it a 3.75 if I had the choice, but not quite a 4.

Not bad

Ann Granger’s books are a cut above the usual cozy mystery. They are very well written. I’ll miss the Mitchell and Markby series, as believe this is the last. The stories are perfect for the audio format, and very well read by Judith Boyd.

Enjoyable mystery

Mitchell and Markby are always well written, with excellent narration by Judith Boyd. But this installment was a yawwn, saw the killer from a mile away, and the damsel in distress was pushed off to the sidelines. Meredith got shoehorned into the climax and Markby seemed unnecessary. Granger’s heart wasn’t in this and it shows. M and M’s relationship was a footnote. The characters deserved better than Granger gave them.

Less than stellar end to the series
