Publisher's summary

It’s the new normal at the Garber household in Connecticut: Glen, a contractor, has seen his business shaken by the housing crisis, and now his wife, Sheila, is taking a business course at night to increase her chances of landing a good-paying job.

But she should have been home by now.

Waiting for Sheila’s return, with their eight-year-old daughter sleeping soundly, Glen soon finds his worst fears confirmed: Sheila and two others have been killed in a car accident. Adding to the tragedy, the police claim Sheila was responsible.

Glen knows it’s impossible. When he investigates, Glen begins to uncover layers of lawlessness beneath the placid surface of their suburb, secret after dangerous secret behind the closed doors.

Propelled into a vortex of corruption and illegal activity, pursued by mysterious killers, and confronted by threats from neighbors he thought he knew, Glen must take his own desperate measures and go to terrifying new places in himself to avenge his wife and protect his child.

Bold and timely, with the shocking twists and startling insights that have become trademarks of this new master of domestic suspense, The Accident is a riveting triumph, a book that moves at a breathless pace to a climax no one will see coming.

Linwood Barclay does it again

Completely implausible but totally intriguing - great entertainment.
Peter Berkrot had a difficult task to manage all the characters - very well done.

Good - typical

Again the authors dislike for any Republican comes through very strong. Does this author not like 1/2 of the public?

Barclay is one of the few authors I can reread...

can reread his books and enjoy them just as much when I know what's coming. This one always makes me cry, novel has loss and redemption, suspense and intrigue.

Not Bad but...

Over all the story was good. Confusing at times as it jumped back and forth. Only a couple really good parts in the book that had me wanting to hear more. Don’t pass it up but a good filler book.

Linwood Barclay- Where Have You Been All My Life

My dad is an avid reader. He doesn't listen to books, he reads book after book in the winter because it's too darn cold in Canada to do much else. He called me the other day (knowing I love a good mystery), to chat with me about a Canadian author he found named Linwood Barclay. He told me he read 7 of his books in the past 10 days so I asked him which one I should start with. He said 'The Accident.'

I was on a long roadtrip (11 hours) so I downloaded the book, with no expecatations. I was engulfed in the first five minutes. All I can say is, Barclay has way of making characters rich and likable, and an in depth writing style that makes nothing obvious.

I can't rave enough about this book, and I can't say too much without giving it away, but I will say: 'Well done sir! I will be buying many, many more of your books, and I can't wait!.'

Fast paced Who Dunnit. Loved it!

Great characters in a very twisted plot. So many unexpected turns and surprises. Well written and engaging.

Spellbinding

From the introduction to the epilogue, narrator Peter Berkrot weaved the compelling story seamlessly through the many voices and the suspenseful storytelling of author Linwood Barclay. Marvelous job by author and narrator.
