About this listen

Rival photographers are forced to collaborate on a body-positive lingerie campaign, but they might have to readjust their focus when sparks fly.

Photographer Cassie Harris loves her job - her company Buxom Boudoir makes people look beautiful and feel empowered with her modern twist on classic pinup photography. Cassie’s best friend, Dana, is about to launch her own dangerously dreamy lingerie line and wants Cassie to shoot and direct the career-changing national campaign. But company politics and Dana’s complicated pregnancy interfere, and Cassie finds herself - a proud plus-size Black woman - not behind the camera but in front of it.

Though she’s never modeled herself, Cassie’s pretty sure she can handle the sheer underwear and caution tape bralettes. She’s not sure she can work so intimately with the chosen photographer, her longtime competitor in the Chicago photography scene, Reid Montgomery. Their chemistry is undeniable on set, however, and feelings can develop faster than film....

“Reading Danielle Jackson's debut is like finding the perfect bra and falling in love at the same time—rare, delightful, and unforgettable. The Accidental Pinup is the fun, charming rom-com you've been waiting to sweep you off your feet. Cassie is a heroine to root for and you'll want to take an unapologetically sexy selfie while reading. Chemistry, humor, and joy are wrapped in sheer fabric and lace in this luscious debut.”—Denise Williams, author of The Fastest Way to Fall

One Click of Good Reading

A story about two people from different styles of life, falling in love. it's about society placing people into boxes to suit their own judgment. It talks about loving who you are no matter what size you may be. mainly, stepping out of your shell to blossom into a wonderful person.

She flipped the script! And I love it.

I love the body positive messages and the way she presents the subtle and overt systemic racism that minorities still encounter. She does so in a way that makes the point without screaming at the audience. Every action has purpose and is wrapped up later in the story. No dangling stories. I also love that the stable family is the Black family.

The Accidental Pinup

Cassie and Reid are after the same job. The photographer for her best friend’s underwear line. With Dana unable to model she asks Cassie to step in but she really just wants to be behind the camera. I was mad at Reid so much of this book because I was rooting for Cassie. Overall this was a wonderful book with great characters.

Cute but predictable

This was a cute story, but kind of flat and predictable. I had high hopes for a plus size main character, and I liked some of the components to that side of the story, but it just wasn’t enough to make it more compelling. I found myself zoning out while listening, and then not going back to hear what I missed. Three stars.

* Plus Size FMC
* Body Positivity
* Career Rivals
* Forced Proximity
* Diverse Cast of Characters

This was such a cute read. I love Cassie and her take no crap attitude. The spice was well written, I just feel there could have been a little more chemistry between Cassie and Reid. That being said, this was a nice, easy read with just a touch of 🌶 and tension.

Waste of Time and Credit

I usually get attracted to book about body positivity like "Cupcake by Cookie O'gorman" but this is Dumplin' kind of book where people are only thin or fat .. and thin people are always evil for some reason
The story is about Cassie who is a photographer but due certain events she is forced to model in a lingerie campaign and the one who will photograph her is Reid, the one who she supposedly hate but slept with him from the second time she saw him and the story is about how will they say I love you to each other
man this was such a waste of time and brain power , I feel like this was written by a harmonal 16 years old but edited by a lonely 40 years old .. it was awkward and talk about forced chemistry !! there wasn't any connection between them at all! none of the side character had any character to remember them by .. this was such a mess
