Publisher's summary

It was always going to end in heartbreak.

You can't pretend-marry the man you secretly love and escape unscathed.

Ford has never hesitated to ask for my help before, but this is the farthest he's asked me to go. Not that I ever say no to him.

Even when I know I should.

Sleeping with my husband is the best worst idea possible.

It's everything I dreamed it would be.

But everything to me is nothing to him.

And he's not the only one I've made promises to.

Book two in the Charade Series.

Half way through the second book and..

The female character is such a wuss. She won’t stand up for herself. She keeps letting people treat her like crap but she stays true to them. Ugh ! Women! We are stronger than that now. I want her to grow a backbone and set all these people strait.

Roller coaster of Deception & Truth

Volume 2 has as many lies and omissions of truth as the first part of the story and is repetitive in several sections. This story would have been a 5 with better editing allowing it to be a duet rather than forcing it into a trilogy. Unfortunately the greed triumphed over good writing so skimming the excess is in order. In this installment MZ and Ford navigate a new marriage while withholding their feelings for each other, and are unable to sort their issues out without some serious confessions. As it is not yet time for serious discussions and truth we get half truths and lots of distractions and in Ford’s case insensitivity toward MZ until the end as he shows a total lack of support against his nasty parents and mean girl ex. He is immature and wimpy at times. There is plenty of hot sex with a very predictable cliffhanger and plenty of hints as to how the start of the next book will go. Ford has his good moments but is still not particularly likable and MZ is frequently lacking in confidence and too willing to cave to keep the peace until it builds up and she blows up-usually at Ford. Why be so weak around Claudia that she couldn’t even voice her concerns and set boundaries. No wonder she was bullied as a teen when she won’t stand up for herself. She needs the self help of her charity as much as the ex models. Also not enough interaction with the brothers and sister-in-laws. You’d think their controlling personalities would have had more of a part. Looking forward to wrapping this next book up and moving on, as much as I enjoyed the narration of Elena Wolfe/Andi Ardnt and Joe Arden. I recommend if you are fans of the whole Zorach family series but if not wait till these are on sale or maybe condensed into an edited omnibus which would be great and well worth a read and listen.

To short

this series is really good but for the money we paid it's just to short for me. I instead of three books. it should have been two.
