About this listen

Harold Robbins, a novelist known for steamy passion in his works, stirs up passion of a different kind in The Adventurers, a story of revolution and danger in the sultry jungles of South America.

As a young boy, Diogenes Alejandro Xenos, witnesses the murder of his mother and sister by a band of marauders. As "Dax" grows to adulthood, he channels his fear and hatred into a desire for revolution, swearing revenge on those in power as he upsets the status quo. His actions make him an outlaw, living on the fringes of society in a land turned upside down with corruption. He is wanted by men and women alike-but for very different reasons.

This epic tale of escape from the horrors of a third-world regime is one of Harold Robbins' most ambitious novels ever, combining his trademark sensuality with political intrigue and a globe-spanning variety of exotic locales. Lose yourself in The Adventurers.

Involving

Excellent narration. Story on the whole is average. Characterization is consistent. Narrator has done a great justice to this story involving many characters and emotions.

World History with life and death

Ah... How I miss Harold Robbins books. What a great story teller. Of course a bit raw in sex and killing. OK, more than a bit.

The world history prior to WWII.. The rich and famous. The political nation building in South America from Europe to the USA. And, a story that ties it all together with the coming of age of boy from the hill country of a small South American dictatorship and its and the boys rise to recognition, fame, and...

What a great read! Thank you Audible!

Gave up after 11 hours

Couldn't finish. Not one likable adult character.
Senseless sex.
Good narrator but the book was a series of small loosely linked short stories about nasty people.

long compelling story

it was just what I needed for a driving cross-country trip. a bit disappointed the way it ended, and became a little far-fetched. overall worth a listen.

WHAT A SAGA

This is a story spanning several generations. It is gripping, raw and exciting. It was hard not to sit and listen to all 25 hours at one time,.

still a great book

I read this when I was a teenager. so 40 some years later, i listened to it. what a great book. the reader was great too. i had forgotten even what the book was about, so it was like reading it fior the first time again. the characters were so well thought out and what a story it tells. I would recommend this book. beware there is a lot of sex in it.
