About this listen

Fan-favorite Bravolebrity Patricia Altschul from the primetime show Southern Charm finally brings fans her eagerly anticipated opus on etiquette and living a glamorous Southern lifestyle. Patricia provides advice on every situation, from hosting a memorable cocktail party, to decoding the dress code for any event, to handling a drunken boor at the dinner table, to delivering the perfectly phrased insult - like her now iconic "shameless strumpet". The Art of Southern Charm takes listeners inside the world of Charleston's most captivating grande dame, who (with Michael the Butler) offers a blueblood's blueprint for curating and celebrating life at its best.

I appreciate Patricia’s view on hosting and etiquette. I only wish they used her voice to narrate not some fake southern accent.

I love Patricia!

We were not expecting an instruction manual of hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed the great ideas on spicing up a party in a classy way, making guests feel at home, as well as interior design. Great methods on making guests feel comfortable in a social setting as well as etiquette. Insights into the show were fun

Excellent ideas to spice up your hospitality

I wanted to enjoy this and mostly, did but it’s so condescending with all the definitions all thru the book. It got to the point where she would say a certain word and I would think, here comes the definition! I’m not sure what grade level she thinks her audience is, but unless it’s a truly unusual word, leave out the definitions. It’s insulting to your audience . . . As you said in the book, if you don’t know the meaning of a word look it up in the dictionary or google it.

Annoying definitions throughout book

This book truly paints a beautiful picture of the art of southern charm and living. The book is eloquent, beautifully read, funny and witty, and inspiring. As a 26-year-old southern lady from Baton Rouge, Louisiana I can attest to the ode to the slower, more elegant, more whimsical life that is quintessentially southern as portrayed in this book. Thank you, Patricia, for this enjoyable read. Thank you, Tiffany Morgan, for this enjoyable narration. This is a must-read for any southerner (or northerner!) who enjoys a curated life with fun and humor thrown in.

Thank you, Patricia.

Pleasant but not as much meat as I would have hoped for. I know she has more to teach than this.

Pleasant

Did they ask a computer to pretend to talk like a southerner? It’s difficult to hear the story as your ears work to crawl over the exaggerated diction of a poor reader. A shame.

The WORST narrator

I absolutely loved the book and love the show Southern charm. Patricia is a character and someone I aspire to be. I wish, though, she would have read the book herself because I love to hear her speak. I wish they would have found a different narrator, however if you set the speed at 1.25x she sounds much better.
